HUZZAH! I woke up last nite around midnite b/c Che was barking, so I filled his water dish, and went and got him some salmon that he refused to eat earlier, and he Gulped it down. Then I looked over at Mailbox (my gravid eastern) and I thought, "hey, what the heck"...So I put some salmon in her food dish, and she ate it! What a GLORIOUS day!!!

Thanks everyone...Yeah, Che is eating well. He doesn't want eat constantly though, which kind of worries me. But he is eating about every other day, and he is maintaining a healthy weight.

:)Good news about the salmon! That's the fish I started Deejay on, and it was very well received. I now use rainbow trout with equally good results!

Che is a Savannah Monitor. It has been a bit under the weather.

congrats about mailbox taking the salmon
sometimes I think those "what the heck" moments work the best, because we're more relaxed and not expecting anything

I have told you all about when I first got Fluffy, right?? My very first snake ever, a ball python-- and Jamie called me at work all excited, asking me if I'd heard the noise she makes. Noise? What noise? And he tells me, yeah, she makes this weird chirruping noise, I hadn't heard it?? And he mimics what she sounded like. I was all excited-- I had NO idea snakes make noises!!!! So I told everyone all about my snake making chirruping noises, and how I couldn't wait to hear...

Yeah. I know. Go ahead, giggle away. Chortle even, if you must. Did I mention how gullible I am?? Did I mention what a smart arse prankster hubby is?? Did I mention how I got back at him by dumping a cup of flour on him next time he was in the shower?

LOL!!!

Yeah, it is really weird...it is like a mix between a bark and a hiss...he only does it at night. A couple of my snakes have made breathy/weezy noises before...barely audible, but a noise nontheless.

These are all symptoms of respiratory issues

I figured as much...they haven't done if for a while...I got a dehumidifier, and it seemed to clear it up. Oh, and it is my monitor that 'barks', not my snakes.

she only does it when i come into a room and when i first pick her up???

That's the time when she's breathing harder. Check you have enough ventilation and that the humidity isn't too high.

Shanley, is it only one who does it? Might be a good idea to quarantine her, too?
