I would lean towards female. I would also note that if this is the new one we were previously discussing that it is all corn in my opinion.

Not a pro here, but my first thought was male.

I'm thinking female. Many of the corns I have had been sexed via popping *By a pro, don't fret* And a lot of the females I would think to be males by their tails.

there's a fairly distinct narrowing after the cloaca, male corns tails continue at the same width with no extreme tapering as it looks like in these photos the tail almost seems to indent at the cloaca. but since it's a young corn it COULD be a male, best way to know would be comparing side by side to a known male or female of the same size or take it to a vet and have it probed. There is a great exotic pet vet with fair prices here in bothell. Can't remember his name off the top of my head but it's easy to find online.

the only way to be sure is to have it probed, corns can be very similar until the females/males come of breeding age.

Thank you everyone for all of your help! I am not a breeder so I am not to worrried. We just like to have a gender so we can name it and refer to "it" as something. But we are going to call it a her, since we have a boy garter. We named it "Kist" and we kept our new garters name "Tilly" and instead or Matilda we just say his full name is Tillford (I think he could get beat up in school for that) but it works for a snake.

Andy:
Thanks I feel better about having a 100% corn snake :p Although, it is an awesome snake I don't think I would have done anything different if it wasn't. :) Oh, and thank you for your offer for another snake, I really want to make sure I can keep the ones I have thriving before I take on another now. If they continue to be like they are though... Well, that is a different story.

Kist is a beautiful snake, and I'm glad you got her out of the poor environment she was in. :-)

Me too, no more one gallon plastic container with a shot glass for a water bowl. Oh and she is at least 2 1/2 feet. Not very small for such a dinky cage. She just loves to craw back and forth in her new cage and she takes like three baths a day. Which my garter never bathes except when I did it yesterday to get some skin he didn't shed off. Do they normally like baths?

Is this snake still young? if so, its very hard to tell with corns... you can't readily sex them by eye until they are adults

Honestly, I have no info about the snake. The pet store went thru a change of ownership and no one could answer any of my questions. They said she might have been from a breeder in Oregon. That is it. I measured her and she is exactly 28 inches.

My first bet is male, but as a breeder of corns for over 5 years... I have been wrong before... I would get the snake probed.

This may help you in determining the sex of your corn snake.
