This is typical action of a bearded dragon that is feeling like he or she has been dominated. When a male dragon courts a female, the female many times does this. The playful name for it i believe is sign language. They raise their front arm up in the air and wave it in a circular motion as they kinda shake their foot before putting it back down. then they may or may not do it with the other side.

did you scare your beardie?!?! lol!!

Henner is a male. And I don't think I scared him.

The front leg waving of Bearded Dragons (in fact all Agamids) is not about being dominated, but rather about being dominant. Henner was simply proclaiming his sovereignty!
I'm amazed you've never seen it before.

usually he doesn't wave - he rather bangs his front foot down rapidly while puffing out his blackened beard and doing jerky head bobs
he's been becoming more and more manly recently
maybe the foot banging was a practice precursor to waving?
I didn't see the wave myself, but he'll probably do it again
I wonder whether there was a cat by Mikhaila

if it is about dominance... theny why did my beardies do it whenever they were intimidated by another dragon?!?! and why was i told by a beardie breeder that it was a sign of lesser dominance... hmmm, maybe i have been mis informed...

I can understand that whatever it really means, it's really cute to witness, Mikhaila. :) Maybe your dragon thought YOU were a cat? He might have mistaken your lovely hair for whiskers? ;)

maybe they were having dominance battles and one was trying to reestablish dominance by waving? Just a guess, I don't know beardies at all. :)

Indeed. It's a convenient way of communicating with other members of the same species.
