Well, I came here, to learn about Garters, for so I was gunna get one, all the way back in JANUARY. Well now, 11 days from my Birthday, I am going to get a garter, for sure. I made a deposit yesterday, on a snake. If I have talked to you, you have known my want for a snake. Well, Reed definately knows this.
I will be getting a baby Northern Garter Snake. I assume these are like others, no extra surprises with food and housing, I think I can keep it in a 25 Long, right?

Yea, im real excited. It is my first snake im will keep throughout it's life. [the previous snakes I have had I usually will find a few Easterns then have them for a year or so and let them go the month I found them.
Dont worry, I will be able to get some pictures. :]

I have to ask the same question; Northern garter snake?
Northwestern garter snake? Northern ribbon snake? Mexican northern garter snake? Have I ever told you how much I like scientific names? :D

I was kinda stumped myself. It said 'Northern Garter' at the pet store.
It wasn't that big being a baby, but there was a same kind that was prob. no bigger than 2 feet. Uh, the colors are like black with 3 yellow stripes, 2 across sides, 1 down spine all the way to tip of tail.
Does that help identifing it? Maybe after I pick it up the pics would help.

20 gallon long- 30" x 12" x 12"
25 gallon *don't think there's a long form*- 24" x 12" x 20"
30 gallon- 36" x 18" x 12"
All in inches.

Hopefully he can convert to the metric system... We use the most ignorant system here. Metric is SOOOO much easier.
