With my nephew Jeff this afternoon. It was nice to have someone to take pix while I looked for snakes. It was great fun!
I knew there should be some under the first big rock.... Off to a good start!:)

OMG! How do you get those wild ones to just sit in your hand like that? All our wild garters just run away as fast as they can, even if they fall 4 feet out of my hand! I'm guessing the local kids must harrass our garters here.

The kids love that stuff :) Each rock you pick up is like a brand new adventure. My daughters and I do this _a lot_ matter of fact I am running short of rocks :)

They scattered, except for the eastern (that I grabbed for the pix) and the milksnake which spent a short time attached to the end of my finger.:eek:

OMG! How do you get those wild ones to just sit in your hand like that?

Well it's not too hard (especially if it is cool). I handle them as gently as possible at first, then try to cup them in my hands, one hand over the other. It is dark and warm in there and after a little while they usually settle down, and when I take my hand away they will (sometimes) sit there long enough for a pix.:)
