Saturday night, I was off to a friends hen night...its quite a way, so I decided to be designated driver and pick some people up on route....

on the way, a police van flashed and stopped me, but as I came to a halt, 2 more cars pulled up, one in front and another along side.
I was asked to get out, keeping my hands where they could see...(they opened the door) as I got out could also hear helecopter right above me.

I was pretty sure that I had been driving ok, but definately nothing to warrent this much police presence.

I was sat in the back of the van while they waited for a female pc, (yet another flashing car.... by now, people are standing in their gardens watching the show!)

I was then restrained and fully searched on the side of the road (top up to just under my boobs while they searched belt area!!! in the middle of the street too!!!) It is quite un-nerving having someone elses hands inside your trouser pockets!!. (was not allowed to empty my own pockets...)

At the same time, 4 policemen pulled my car to bits searching for drugs!! In the engine, the petrol tank, inside and under seats...fully emptied my boot and went through everything with a fine tooth comb.

....!! not the best start to a night out!!! What the ???/!Why???? I had nothing to hide but was a little shaken up and embarrassed by the whole ordeal!! so why me?

ok, rewind to Saturday lunch time,.... get a phonecall from my son, but on his mates phone. hes nearly in Abergele, (near by town) but has forgot his phone, he is meeting people, and he doesn't want to be late, so he asks if I can drop it off for him....

I jump in the car, drive down the coast road till I see him, hes on other side, so I turn right into holiday camp to turn around, as I do so he cycles up, I open window and hand him his phone....

apparently was seen doing this and it looked like I was 'giving small package to kids' so they assumed drugs!!..

Anyway, I was then quite late...., (and so was everyone I was giving a lift to) suitably embarrassed and a little shaky...but I spose I would rather they stopped and checked than let people deal drugs to kids! Anyway, the police were very nice about the whole thing, even when searching me..
(Why can't the nice young police man search you?)
Never dropping anything off for my son again!! (he thinks its quite funny that the police think his mum is a drugs baron!! no amused!!:(

I'd be so pissed, if this happened to me
did they ever ask you anything before they put you through this?
and - did they have warrants for all this?
yes - it's nice they're protecting kids from drug dealers, but this was overkill, even if you were a drug dealer
I better stop talking now, because I'm getting pissed, even though it happened to you, Inge

Good heavens, Inge, I'd have been scared to death and then drop dead furious... I'm with Rhea on this one, there was surely a better way to handle it-- maybe like doing some more homework before they jumped to conclusions!! Sorry you had to go thru that...

Um think I was pretty terrified at first yeah! just assumed they had stopped the wrong car, and as soon as they saw me I thought they would dissapear and chase real criminal!!
Not really angry, as I realise they have to do it, but a little humiliated about being restrained and searched in a busy housing estate!
The end of the day, if they just did background checks, people would just get really clever at covering their tracks! sudden swoop, theres no chance of hiding anything etc...
Oh well, give me something to talk about this week in work!
