how common is it?
I just read Sjoerd's post and now I'm wondering . . .
is there a chance that Sammy'll eat her babies, since she has an appetite all the time?
should I feed her more?

Well, I must say, I have never experienced anything like this.
The female was seperated from the male about a month ago. So I'm pretty sure he didn't eat anything.
The female stopped eating exactly two weeks ago. But as far as I have experienced, females are in some sort of 'trance' when giving birth...
I have also tried to feed some stillborns to my snakes (two years ago) but they refused to eat them (both male and female)

I really don't know, but what I do know is my eastern looks at my young perietalis in the tank next to him with ill intent all the time.........

I've never known a Garter to eat her own babies, although I have known the males to do this quite often.

I have never had that happen....I have heard of males eating them, but not females.

so I probably don't need to worry that Sammy'll eat hers
the other question that just occurred to me is this:
on the off-chance that one of my parietalis is gravid, should I separate them?
it's two females who've been together since infancy
I took the male out and I don't think anything happened, but it's possible
I guess I should keep an eye on them

what you could do also is make some hides that only the babies can get inside
