View Full Version : Wiki printing cutoff on Firefox 2.0

I have Firefox 2.0 on Win XP and when I printed the general garter snake care info, it cut off the right side of the text, so I'm missing 2-3 words from every line. So then I saw the "format for printing" link, clicked that, and printed the resulting page, and got the same problem.

Bottom line is, I cannot print the instructions. They cannot help me if I'm missing words.

Is there a way around this?

Is there a way to get the Wiki to work with Firefox 2.0?

Does this happen with other browsers? Can someone test that?

Can someone confirm this with Firefox 2.0?

Thanks.

p.s. I printed to an HP 8150 printer and to an Okidata 3640 color laser printer at work.

p.p.s. The first printing, described above was on my work computer. I just printed the same page on my home computer (Win XP, Firefox 2.0, HP Officejet All in one 4215 inkjet) and got the same results. I even set, in my printer drive, the text to be 80% size, and the right side of the text was still cut off.

This seems to be a wiki problem, not a computer, Firefox, or printer driver problem.

I don't know if it will help or not, but I would try changing the printer page setting to landscape.

I have only seen this problem before when the paper was set to the wrong size ..I.E. the printer had A4 size paper, but the printer settings said it was letter size.

When you print, when the print confirmation screen comes up, just check on there that the correct size paper is selected.

An alternative is to copy and paste the text into a word processing document.

Good luck!:)

When I do Print Setup, the paper size is "Letter", and letter size paper is actually in the printer. I printed it as landscape, and on some paragraphs words are still cut off, but not as many lines are cut off in general.

I don't have this problem on any other website or document, so I'm thinking it's related to how the Wiki sends my browser the information.

.

Just humour me and try A4 in the printer setting...?

Ok. This time I did some more tests on our new Ricoh C811 laser printer.

1. I chose the default 8.5x11 page size and the text for General Garter Snake care got cut off on the right edge.

2. I chose A4 page size in the printer driver and the same text got cut off on the right side.

So it still looks like a Wiki problem. There is a fairly long link on that page, I wonder if that is messing up the printing.

My next test was after I modified the long link under Housing and I removed what appeared to be a box with preformatted text from another section. I printed it out and only the last few characters on the right side were dropped.

sorry that I wasted your time (and ink ) with the A4 test then, but it is something I have seen happen before with paper differences.

hmm not sure what else to suggest, other than copying text to a word processing package and printing from there?

Yeah, I'll have to do that now.
