RIDICULOUS!!!!! okay... every time i go out looking for reptiles i search every where and then the second i give up i find something... for example today it happened not once but twice!!! i went down to the creek looking for snakes and/or anything else... after a little wile i gave up and started to look for a stick to play with my dog... then all of a sudden i found a tiny baby turtle... :D so i took her up and prepared a place for her to stay... finally when i had it prepared i went back to play fetch with my dog and look for more turtles... so i played with my dog and then decided that it was time to go because it looked like rain... :D so i picked up her leash and there it was... a snake... too bad this was the trip that i chose not to bring anything to put it in... so i hiked up the hill for the second time snake in hand... so now i have sooty, a baby turtle, a new snake, and my two "keepers" but unfortunatly i only have one heat lamp and three real cages, now the new snake is being kept in a portable pop-up cage. man, if this isn't the most ridiculous story you have ever heard then you are crazy!!

I've brought critters home in just about anything you can think of.
Be careful, keeping reptiles is addicting, you could have more than you can handle in no time if you arent careful.:D
So, what kind of snake did you find?
Lets see some pics.:)

I had to bring my precious dekay's home in my hand yesterday.
My mom always says, "Kyle, no more snakes!"
My girl friend always tells her, "Okay Mrs. Kandilian!"
Ensue the first snake she sees me catch, followed by, "OMG KYLE LET'S KEEP IT!" XD

Socks make excellent snake bags for transporting smaller snakes. ;)

do you guys ever find that as soon as you stop looking you find them????
I guess the most unusual "container" for me was a cigarette pack, but have simply put some in my pocket.

In a word, 'Yes'. That's how it works! Obviously not Garters in my case, but when I go looking for Grass Snakes, I've always just about given up then I start to find them.

For the right snake, I'd hold it in my mouth while swimming across a river(and I dont swim well), them hike the mountain back to my car holding it my hands the whole way, if thats what it took.:D

so i went up to take some pics of the new snake... only to find that he(there seemed to be no intrest what-so-ever in my other male) had escaped over the devider and into sooty's place... good thing they're both males...:D but here are the pics of him and the turtle too Sooooo cute!!!!!!

04-26-2008, 07:09 PM
yes actually i just gave him a bath and he's better now but he seems to have some kind of stuff on his head... he's too scared for me to try and get off... but i'll try before i release him...:D
Zephyr
04-26-2008, 07:10 PM
Any tail pics? Are you 185% sure they're males? The head size is saying female to me... What's the length of both of those guys/gals?
Snake lover 3-25
04-26-2008, 07:13 PM
okay... wasn't expecting that... he ate some tilapia and the worms that i put with him... cool... now i'll get him really fat before release... he'll hopefully meet a nice female and make lots of babies for me to catch one day... :D
Zephyr
04-26-2008, 07:15 PM
Hmm... I'm not so sure those are males if they're eating already. I have never kept or seen a wild male snake fresh out of brumation show any interest in food or any signs of having eaten something until after their first shed, in which they would lose the dirt along with the old skin.

both about 20" but i think his head just looks big because he is VERY thin... all of them seem to be this year... most likely cause our winter started in november and ended in april....:(
Zephyr
04-26-2008, 07:18 PM
I'm still not entirely convinced... Any tail pics?
Snake lover 3-25
04-26-2008, 07:19 PM
i think that they only ate because of their obvious weight loss...

04-26-2008, 07:21 PM
sooty tried to mate w/ my female so he's male but he didn't try to mate with this one... so.... but i'll try to get it's tail... he's eating...

Shanley, that looks like a nice snake you found! And the tiny turtle is precious........I'm not surprised you could overlook something that small, he's lucky you didn't end up stepping on him!

if the new snake is a female and has already been mated, chances are sooty will not have any interest!

Well, you can always use this one instead:

No i have not mated her... i didn't have a male... but i dont think that she would have because she has been out of brumutation??? since march 1 and she has already shed 2 times...:(
