Attention all our UK members!:)

I've noticed over the past few months that as new members, from the UK, join the forum they all seem to say the same thing about the lack of diversity in the available Garter species in the UK. It seems that mainland Europe is far ahead of us in the wide range of Garter species they can obtain.

In view of this I am arranging to bring together an interesting selection of '08 captive bred Garter babies this August, here in Northern England. Prices will vary depending on source and availability, advance orders will assist in ensuring no one is disappointed and no shipping of 'surplus' Garters takes place.

The list of available Garters so far is:

T. atratus atratus
T. cyrtopsis cyrtopsis
T. cytopsis ocellatus
T. elegans terrestris 'Red Morph'
T. elegans vagrans
T. marcianus marcianus 'Albino'
T. marcianus marcianus
T. proximus proximus
T. proximus rubrilineatus
T. radix
T. sirtalis concinnus
T. sirtalis infernalis
T. sirtalis parietalis 'High Red'
T. sirtalis sirtalis 'Florida Blue'
T. sirtalis sirtalis 'Melanistic'
T. sirtalis sirtalis 'Het Melanistic'
T. sirtalis tetrataenia

I hope to expand on this list over the next few weeks.
UK members wishing to buy should PM me for details and prices.
European breeders wishing to 'enlarge their market' and sell in the UK can also PM me.

If you prefer you can e-mail me on jasumo@btinternet.com

If this works out well, perhaps we have the beginnings of an annual UK Garter Snake fair!

sounds fantastic.
im learning more and more about garters as time goes on and have actually just got a pair of garters, they were listed as checkered garters but im afraid i dont know much about their parentage at all, they are only a couple of months old atm.
It would be definately something to have more species available.
Great thinking :)

Don't forget though, guys.... this time around only pre-ordered animals (from the list) will be there. At this point I can't arrange for a mass of surplus stock, so there won't be much to 'browse' through.... If you want something, you need to order it in advance.:)

i probably wont order this time around as im just getting used to the 2 new ones ive got and hoping they will get used to me soon too.
but i will more than likely be bugging you sometime soon...............did i say bugging? i meant begging lol

No pressure to buy, Jeanette. You could always come along just for the social thing and to see some of those more unusual Garters 'in the flesh'. You're not so far away from me.
All I'm saying is, there will be little opportunity for 'impulse buying' on this occasion.

I would love to order some varieties other than Checkereds. I love all the vairious types. I said to my boss on Monday i would go to the Hamm Show and bring back around 100 Garters. He thought i was serious. Given a choice
i might well buy to many so i will have to think of which ones i would like to buy. I want 2 more young Floridor Blue Garters so i have 4 in total.

I have a tetra and I don't even want one. :D But it's a garter and a funny little character. :)

In other words, I didn't get it because it was a tetra, I got it because it was a garter snake.

Well infernalis look almost the same as tetras, their red stripe is just broken into kind of rectangles and you can get them in the U.S.
