Officially I'm 39, but only because I don't often tell people that at 19 I decided that was the age I would be forever. Occasionally I get caught out and my youngest son's friends at school have said to him: "Your mum isn't like a real adult, she's just like a teenager!" Oops.

Commodore 64's are a sore spot for me! :p
We had an awesome middle school teacher who was really into computers. He started a computer club and had a few of us over to his house to use his pc's. He eventually opened a computer store and we got to help choose the name :) Anyway, so he introduced us all to computers right when home pc's were becoming available. Atari made one of the best at the time and that's what he recommended. Commodore's were much cheaper and a few of my friends were getting Commodores 64's. What did I want for Christmas that year? A Commodore 64, of course! Let's see this would be Christmas of 82? Well, my amazingly awesome grandpa, knowing nothing about computers, went to said teacher's store, did as much research as he could, and got me the absolute best computer he could afford. The Atari, of course... only problem, everyone else had Commodore's with their little cassettes that everyone gladly shared. One other poor kid and I had Atari's that we could basically do nothing with :) I used to program stupid little games and type my homework, but that's basically it. It's still in it's original box at my mom's house :o
RIP Grampa, I still love ya! Btw, my grandpa really was amazing and was like that about everything... nothing but the best for his first granddaughter <gg> or any of the other's who followed :)

OK maybe I'm a real "Geek" but the thing that attracted me the most to a Commodore 64 was the card slot on the back....
I would sit and "breadboard" home brew circuits and use a ribbon cable to control all sorts of things from the CPU.
Purchased a surplus Helium neon laser tube (Very expensive then, no such thing as a laser pointer yet) and use my PC to spin mirrors connected to motors...
Home brew laser show in the 80's.....
I remember the Atari, and the Tandy...
Bonus points if anyone can remember the exclusive dealer of Tandy PCs

My games usually amounted to computerized Ad Libs :) I was a girl :) So you filled in a name, a noun, a whatever and the computer told you who you liked, how many kids you were going to have, where you were going to live... lol... lots of cute little stories... yeah, maybe that's why I never became a programmer... cause grandpa went for the atari instead of the commodore & I was stifled... yeah, that's it! I learned on the vic 20 and 64 in my computer class my senior year of high school. While out with my mom christmas shopping, the k mart had a 64 in the electronics dept. my brother was with me....I decided to enter a program.....real brief....it basically cleared the screen and posted a question....it said Hi, what's your name..... when someone would put in their name and hit enter.....the would clear the screen, and say f you and the name, then lock the computer screen so you had to shut off the computer to get back to the main menu.....:rolleyes::eek:

Once I hit 30 (year 2000) I started forgetting my own Birthday. I would look up the Calandar and go "oh whoa, my Birthday was a couple of days ago"

I argue that point... but i get your point at the same time. Here in Canada the drinking age is 19. But car insurance goes way down at the age of 25... so after 25 it doesn't matter how old you are. lol
But I'm 22 and from London Ontario, Canada. Probably one of the most messed up city's in Canada :p

i have already contributed to this thread [see above]:D
but as others are adding their best years i thought why not? in march next year i officially become one of Britain's old age pensioners, there is not a lot i can do about the chronology BUT that's one club in which i intend to be only an honorary member for as long as possible, my wife and i enjoy getting out into the countryside as often as possible, anyway as good as the past years have been i am anticipating that the best are still to come, we are saving for and planning our American trip in 2013 and just what could top that in anyone's life,[not much i would argue] i have to go now as i can hear my wife coming through the front door !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh honey do you know where i left my bungy jumping kit ? ;)
