I went to the Reptile Expo in Grand Rapids, Mi today and as usual had to fight not to bring home new additions. Living in an apartment and keeping the fact that I have snakes from my neighbors means that I have to keep the numbers down, but it is so hard!! I have to go there every month for crickets and mice and I tell myself everytime that I can restrain myself, but it is almost a physical pain to NOT bring home something new that I almost wish that I didn't have to go. I did make some good contacts with some gentlemen that both attend the Chicago reptile show (which is a very large show). One is going to keep his eyes open for me, but the other is interested in my Cali babies and might find the snakes I want and do some trading with me. Next expo I will be taking the 3 remaining babies in with me so that he can see them, along with a list of snakes that I want and a top limit of what I'm willing to pay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I may have my males in time for breeding this year after all!

I used to take photos at the expos and I could kick myself for not doing it today. I'm so sorry! I've actually come to dread going and never even thought of it! I saw a full grown spinytail iguana that I wanted so badly, but he wasn't tame and I was worried that he might conflict with my Aussies. Not one garter, can you believe that? It upsets me that garters are not taken more seriously around here. I also saw tiny baby savannah and nile monitors, but same problem when they are grown and these do eat meat so are a bigger threat. I felt very badly for the wild caught water dragons, so skinny and dark, hunched up in those tiny bowls. I can resist the large snakes without a problem, only a small temptation. But the lizards are a very big temptation. If they had garters I would be lost and couldn't resist. I promise to do better next time, which ought to be a better show anyways, the babies will be coming in and the season will be open.

Would that be Ctenosaura, Tori? I love them... I have kept so many in the past.. one of my all time favourites. I couldn't have resisted that!:D

It was a Ctenosauras similis over 3 foot long including the tail, beautiful colors and only $25. I've wanted one for a while but would prefer to take a baby. Last month they had a whole table of them at different ages, cheap too, ranging from $10 to $25 for adults and a breeding pair of adults for $35

I know what you mean, add impulse buys to that have you have very bad owners. I saw an ad in Craigs list today right after the expo:

DREAM PET

I bought this guy from the reptile expo today. And my wife will not let me keep him. He is a two month old red tail boa baby. I dont have pics of him but you can come get him cageing and all for 100 bucks.

I was there and I know he spent over $100 just on the snake! His wife must be really mad!
