If somebody doesn't know how they can easily provide an enclosure in case they have newborns, here's to give you an idea: http://gallery.dierenparadijs.be/data/500/medium/227_2792_klein.JPG
Very easy, cheap and offers everything they need :)

I'm going to offer them food again tomorrow, let's hope they'll eat. And mam also, she's a little thin at the moment.

The best thing about this thread is that 2 of them are going to be mine thanks to Gjs & Sabine's reservation :D .... can't wait to meet them .... well done again Hans ;) ...

P.S. How big are they now?

All 5 that go to the UK are really good feeders and they've shed already a couple of times. You'll be pleasantly surprised on their size, I think ;). I've not measured them, so can't give you exact figures. Maybe Sabine is so nice to take another picture with something to measure them next to them ;)

They are really beautiful! I wish I lived in Europe where all the countries were in close proximity. It is nice that you can have or visit whatever you want around you. I am jealous.

If it's really them that you want, then there's a way to get them. Some other snakes of this nest will be handed over to James in August ( and also Greg will get a couple). I still have a few and so can provide them for you, but then you should talk to James on that...

Thanks for the reactions :)

You can come to have a visit :D
You have one advantage on me though, much more reptiles to go herping...

Thanks everyone!

Beautiful concinnus babies. I really love the look of these garters. What are their personalities like compared to some of the other sub-species? I've heard they're more calm/relaxed then the California red-sided (Thamnophis sirtalis infernalis)
Excellent pictures Hans, and congratulations on those babies.

I've not had infernalis yet. But I don't think those rumours are right. Mine are very quick and highly alert on what you do when the enclosure is open. The 2 females also need to be looked after when you give them food, because they have a tendency to 'take' the others food.

But that said, these are really snakes I see a lot, almost always going though the enclosure and checking things out. And they are gorgeous to observe.

Thanks for the reaction :)
