what is your favorite type of garter snake?

Mine is the San Francisco Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia) although they are illegal to catch or possess, due to their very small population... they are very colorful and if i could own one i would... :D
see this website for more information on them... The San Francisco Garter Snake (http://us.geocities.com/shavano08/sfgs.html)

I have to say since seeing a picture of a San Fransico Garter Snake about twenty years ago and seeing some recent ones lately i agree they are probally
the best looking Garter Snake around. :)

Of the garters that I have kept to this point, T s concinnus- Oregon Red-spotted have been my favorite. Very active, unreal appetite, and easy to handle.

I have both, San Franciscos and Oregon Redspotted and as stunningly beautiful as I think the first are, the second win in character. Never refused food, active, curious and look well, just simply cool. :D

Actually, Reed, I can't. To me they look like toys... or candy. They have no appeal to me at all... but 'to each, his own'.

Yea I must say, I am not fond of honduran milksnakes at all.... the only hondurans I like are the normal ones. the hypos, the albinos, they are pretty at all but after having them for a while they lose their luster. their personaliy is... blah. that's why I am selling my pueblan milksnakes at the next show along with a bunch of other goodies....

I have to say for me, it's gotta be sirtalis. I have kept LOTS of garters and sirtalis will always be number one in my book. I actually find the california red-sided garter more attractive that the san francisco garter.

I can't say anything about the ones I've only seen pics of . . .
my favourite here is still Sammy my T.s.sirtalis, with Chloe, my T.S.pallidilus a close second and then the T.s.concinnus and the T.e.vagans, the anery T.radix, the T.radix . . .
oops - I just ran out of garters
I guess the sirtalis are my favourites, but I'm looking to get to know the T.elegans realm a bit better

Maybe I just have an active imagination but I can see them slithering around a rain forest or possibly an aztec temple. I know nothing about their actual habitat, so I don't know if this is possible, but it's a cool image none the less!

I like my Mount Diablo garter- T. a. zaxanthus and Sierra Garter - T. couchii the best I guess. Not sure why. Maybe because I dont see them as often in collections, and because I have had the Sierra for about 5.5 years.

Yes, I posted pics of my garters on one of my first posts on this forum.
Heres a pic of my Diablo. She was given to me by a friend who was having difficulty getting her to eat after she had babies. She weighed only 27 grams then, and I got her up to 75-80+ grams in a few months, now she looks great, even better than in this pic. Started her on treefrogs, now she pounds peach fuzzies like mad, as long as you reach them into her hidebox. Disturb her at all while you do it, and she wont eat.

I have trouble choosing...

But I think I love the T. atratus the most. Or the tetra's? Maybe the T. melanogaster?
Or is it the T. eques cuitzeoensis?
And thos T. cyrtopsis ocellatus are also very... Or shall I choose the black easterns?

Crap, as I said... I cannot choose!
