Definitely fun lizards. :) High tank recommended, will need UVB, one male per tank max (unless it's really big). Had green anoles once, almost bought browns, but luckily I invested in my first garter instead.

I didn't know there were green and brown, I thought they just turned green and brown......Duh:o any way they are fun to have and are very fast, I had I think five in a 10gallon, they love a little hide and twigs and stuff of that nature, as for food they love crickets, and meal worms, but I think the meal worms are more like a treat.........they are kool so go for it................:D

Green anoles were one of the first store-bought reptiles I ever kept, when I was pretty young. had them in a 20g tank on my dresser. Pretty cool when they stick their dewlaps out.
I was actually thinking today, wouldnt it be awesome to build a monster display cage, like 6 ft tall x 6 foot wide x 3 foot deep, and outfit it with awesome reptile lighting and misters and tons of branches, and put a whole bunch of green anoles in it?
I bet they would be very active and fun to watch in such a large cage, and probably breed well. Then you could get one of those really long green vinesnakes(in a separate cage) to feed the offspring to. :D

Brown anoles are a different species, Anolis sagrei. :) But they look very different from green anoles that have just turned brown.

its really hard to know if its a brown anole or green anole when your catching them in the wild because the green ones turn dark brown or brown when scared, sick, or stressed

I haven't caught either in the wild, but green anoles that turn brown generally don 't have the stripes and markings the brown anoles have.

are they supposed to have mesh cages?
I would get a regular 10 or 20 gallon tank, but I was thinking,

Heh, I was informed by a botany expert at the science fair that if you live in the US and have a Lowes or Home Depot nearby, that they ALWAYS get anoles and geckos, mole crickets, and other animals in on their live plants. Why spend the money at a pet store when you could get them for free with a little searching? :P

Also, brown anoles have red/orange dewlaps, while green anoles have red/pink dewlaps. ;D

can you answer my question please?

I would think that anoles would prefer a warm, aerated environment. Just as long as there is a humid hide, or some place for them to get moist as necessary. I do know one thing: You want it aerated, but not dry.

so would that cage above be ok?

I would think that the mesh cages would work fine,as long as you provide the proper lighting and heat, although you may need to mist them a bit more often. They do cut down on your visibility a bit, but also make the animals feel more secure inside.

a mesh cage or a 10-20 tank would be fine, its your chioce, but either one would work just fine.............;)

But they need high humidity, so wouldn't the mesh be bad?
I am thinking of getting a 15 gallon for two.

if your only getting two then a 10 gallon would be more then enough space they don't get very big.............the mesh would be fine you would just have to spray them more, but I personally would go with a 10gallon tank........:)
