Well, at about 8:00pm tonight, we were about to eat dinner when I saw that my female Oregon red spot had gotton stuck in an awkward place in her viv. I use ceramic heater bulbs as heating and they have a metal guard on them to prevent the snake touching it and burning itself. This particular snake however like to climb on the guard and today, she somehow managed to wedge herself in a hole thats in the top of the guard. I thought she was gonna die when i first saw her, as she was just sort of hanging there.

So we immediatley disassembled the heater and removed the guard, as the snake got more scared she got even more stuck. We tried to get her free but she just wouldnt budge, so in the end we decided to take her down to the local fire station which is just down the road from our house. They were quite interested to see a snake but they were quite happy to help and after carefully cutting away the metal they managed to free the snake. Apart from some damage to the scales around the middle of her body she seems fine, and will surely be up to more mischief as soon as soon as she gets the opportunity.

Wow, glad she ended up ok. They do get in the most impossible predicaments sometimes.

I once had a rescue Yellow Rat that had a 4 inch piece of plumbing copper pipe around the front section of it's body! I had to take that one to the fire station to have it freed. It recovered fine.
