Cool pics....thanx for sharing. The ones of the male bull are funny looking with his mouth half open like that. Almost like he's saying "Scram! I don't want my picture taken!".:D

Those are great pictures, Shannon. I just LOVE Sledge -- he's such a cutie!!:)
How are hognoses to take care of? Are they similar to garters? I might like to look into one!!

our hognose is a lovely mellow snake - the only one that will contendedly curl up on my had for long stretches of reading books
he's not dull though
when I talk to him he looks at me and when he gets bored with being curled up, he generally heads toward my face - he likes glasses and the neck area

Cool!
Now the big question-- how are they for price??
I mean, I know it's different everywhere, but roughly. Under $100, or between 100 and 200?
I need to be armed with the money knowledge so I can work on my husband. He works in the manufacturing industry so he's always paranoid about extra spending, lest he doesn't have a job next week!!:D

normal western hogs average around $75.-

That's not so bad,
but since I just wrote a cheque for more than twice that for the stupid furnace, I should probably wait just a leeeeetle bit before mentioning any new snakes to the husband!!:D:D

lol! sledge is by far the cutest snake I own. they can be challenging feeders at times. Sledge is currently WOLFING down live pinkies... but he just sits there and hisses at F/T ones like pfff, im not eating that!!

That sounds rather comical! I'm trying to picture Sledge snubbing his meal -- too cute!!:D

A hognose is def. my next snake!! There is an expo here at the end of March, and I hope to find one then. Seeing Sledge's pics reconfirmed it... he's so cute I can't stand it!!!

Casey Jones, our hognose, will sometimes hiss at f/t mice and strike at them, but not eat them
generally when I leave them in his tank, he'll eat them once he's calmed down
I've got a number of snakes that are wary and cautious around rodents - particularly when they're approaching shed

If I ever venture beyond garters and my plans regarding Natrix natrix and Coronella austriaca don't work out, then hognoses will be right at the top of my list.
