Wow!! That IS amazing-- what, are they all co-ordinating some major break out attempt and decided to synchronize sheds to make it easier??!!

This happens to me quite often. At some times in the year, up to three quarters of my 30 garter snakes will go into shed at once!!!

When I had hermit crabs they would always molt at the same time.

Could it be a mmmh, hormonal thing? You know when several women live together their cycles (no not bicycles!) also coincide. Something to do with the smell. Apparently. Eek.

Yeah, I was thinking that too... the vets call it Hell Week at our office. LOL

:) could be .... I think that for the red-sided and the florida blue it was to be expected as they are very close to each other agewise. The radix on the other hand is a good bit older ... maybe he just felt like joining in with Slithers as they're tankmates?

one of my kings, who just shed less than a month ago, is shedding again - in synch with the king in the neighboring tank
at the same time four of my garters are in shed, as is the crested gecko
and whether it's a hormonal thing I wouldn't know, but the women's cycle is a form of sloughing as well - just interior rather than exterior
who knows - perhaps snakes repond to the moon or the weather or something else we're not aware of in the same way

I think its just how they grow, and it is just a coincidence that they are shedding together at this time...but its kool to see them all go through it
at once..............:D

His ancestors were the ones that made fun of Galileo for saying the Universe does not revolve around us.:D

I think a lot of hobbyists notice that their reptiles shed in groups. Shedding is hormonal so I have always compared it to the menstrual cycle. They get cranky too!

I can't confirm it, my snakes have never really shed in groups. My vagrans shed practically simultaneously once, within 2 hours of each other, but after that, they've been drifting apart and they've shed about 2 weeks apart for the last several sheds. It was more or less the same with my parietalis couple. My snakes certainly don't have a pattern. :)

Here it's also pure coincidence. I've known that lot of them shed together and known periods were everybody was shedding way apart of anybody else. So don't really think there's a pattern.
