Hi, I'm new hear and kinda need some advice. I'm hoping to get my first garter snake (my first snake period), a checkered one, and was wondering if 2 of these snakes can live in a 2ft wide vivarium together :confused:

It's just that I have the chance to get a pair with vivarium ready to go for a cheap price. Anything else I should look out for too :confused:

Just dont wanna get screwed over when I get em.

Help would be greately appreciated here.

welcome to the forum
generally garters of a similar size can live together
whether your viv is the right size, depends on the other dimensions
a longer one is preferable, but if you have a tall one, you can create more space with branches

if you're suspicious of getting screwed, you should probably also get some idea of what healthy garters ought to look like . . .

If the garters are young, they should be fine for now in a 10G. But as they grow you will want more space for two together.

Welcome to Thamnophis. The viv size replies you've received so far is sound advice. Generally the enclosure should be equal or greater in length to the Snakes length.
