Can't wait 'til it gets to the US. Attenborough is the man!!! I've loved his documentaries from when I was just a kid watching the Living Planet series. I've got that series, Trials of Life, Life in the Undergrowth and hope to get the Mammals soon as well. Would also like to get the Blue Planet series, but have to "spread out" my A/V spending some...LOL.:D

Yeh, kind of thought to myself....."Ok, it's not out in the states and I don't know when it will be, but it'll be out in the UK end of this month. I don't live in the UK......but heck, that's why they call it the world wide web!" I know I paid a bit more for it then if I waited (pound is kicking the dollar's butt!), but think it'll still be worth it!:D

I just thought about that, Roy
I do have a zone-free DVD player, because we watch german movies, but you probably don't

You know I didn't even think about that.....figured a DVD was a DVD....buggar!!!!!!! Well that about sucks. Well guess I out smarted myself on this one. I guess I'll have to email Amazon.uk and see what's what. If I'm stuck with a UK DVD, would you be interested in it Rhea?

I ordered my own yesterday
but I'm pretty sure you can still change your mind, since it's not even out yet
then when I get mine, we can have an east coast thamnophis event at my house and watch it

A friend of mine got one of those multi region players so she can watch all the inexpensive movies she bought while in China and some she got from the UK. I know she told me they have gone down in price lately, though I don't know what that is. I've been thinking about getting one so I can watch some UK shows that I'd like to get on dvd.

the series is fantastic so far. he is great!

There has been some concern that the program might spark some reptile trend and people will buy snakes and lizards without adequate information about the care and housing required. I can see how that might be the case, I know there have been other programs about mammals etc. without it causing any problems but somehow it seems different with reptiles. :(

now I'm really curious to see it
is there much in it about herps as pets?
because I don't think a nature program without that implication would have that effect
supposedly I'll be able to see for myself in about a week or so - I just got the email from Amazon.uk, informing me that they've shipped out

I'm not so sure.... Ninja Turtles certainly had an effect!

Stefan-A
02-24-2008, 02:42 PM
I'm sure the same thing happens all the time with mammals. It's only "wrong" when herps are involved. After Babe came out, everybody wanted a pet pig and now there's supposedly a "global pet rat shortage" thanks to Ratatouille. Okay, so they were aimed at kids, they weren't documentaries, but a smaller target audience probably only means smaller numbers sold.

I didn't see ninja turtles
had I only known that it was a nature program . . .
the latest one supposedly has some decent fighting scenes

OMG-- an ANTELOPE??

I would really like one big snake some day, specifically, a red tail boa but I have too many little dogs... lol... I'd be so afraid one would get eaten somehow!!!

There is a bit of a problem with the audio (sync and quality) in the first part, but that could be just my problem.

NOT IMPRESSED!!!
you guys all know i am off to london to see the king tut exhibit, well that is on tuesday.
if i had gone down yesterday then i would have been able to meet the Big man himself, Sir David Attenbrough. He was at a book signing at the natural history museum in london.
devastated!!!

UK shipping is far superior to the german options
we got it yesterday and watched the segment on snakes
very cool
I so wish I could just lend it to people (such as Mikhaila's science teacher, or Sean), but I guess, I'll just have to have a few viewing parties

Snaky

Stefan, I haven't seen it yet. But now new torrents are available ( have not seen them either, just don't have time at the moment ), if you'd like to take the risk downloading it again.

by the end of the amphibian segment I was in tears, sobbing
I guess my monkeysphere includes endangered amphibians
