For some reason I have a really hard time getting good clear shots of Deejay. She's not very photo-friendly (kind of like her owner!)
But here are a few of the best ones:

Thanks, everyone!
This camera is kind of fun to have. Now all I need to do is remember to bring it with me when I go to important events. I carry it around at home to take pics of the snakes, but leave it behind when I go to family gatherings, school concerts etc...

that's funny - I do the same thing
and when I do take it, I forget to take pics
who wants pics of people anyway?
just think of it this way:
someone finds the pics a century later, they're still gonna say "cool snake" about the snake pics - with the humans they're just gonna say "so who were those people?"

Exactly!! That's what I keep telling them, but somehow, people still tend to get slightly bent when you have hundreds of snake pictures but none of them!!!:D

LOLOL... that's so me... pics of all the animals by the thousands, but NO pics of my family to be found. Well, except for my nephew who is now 15 months old and has me enthralled. He's almost as cute as my critters.:D

I used to work at a photo processing lab back when film was a necessity, lol, and my coworkers would razz me, "what'd she take pics of this time?" "Puppies and kitties, always puppies and kitties..." Lol.

Actually, I do take quite a few of my nephew too! He's nearly 3 years old and he is such a beautiful child, I can't help but snap a few of him whenever I see him! He even has his own little photo album at my house!:D

Laura, I also worked at a photo place, managed a small local one for a few years. LOVED it. But all I ever developed and hung in the shop were pics of my animals too, lol!!! The owner had ancient equipment; we had to view every single pic on the negatives and adjust the color as it went thru. But it was a fun, interesting job. The local police would bring us their crime scene pics and THAT was really interesting, but occasionally horrible too!!
Anji, I've never been much of a kid person... never wanted any... until my nephew was born, and the first time I held him something just clicked. I adore that child more than I ever thought I would. Still don't really want one of my own, but love to see him and find that all of a sudden, I enjoy most of the kids I meet. He's the first baby in my immediate family in almost 20 years, so my whole family is just enthralled with that boy. But my sister is not an animal person and never comes over here... I want him to grow up around my animals, so as soon as he's a bit older I'll have to start nabbing him. I think she's going to have a coronary the first time he comes home with doggy prints on him!!

Ok, that's too weird a coincidence... I was the assistant manager, we color corrected every print on the enlarger (it was a HUGE black behemoth of a machine), and I once mounted a roll of E-6 from the sheriff's dept that was of majorly nasty human remains in a shallow creek bed!

tell your sister that children exposed to animals in the first year of their lives are less likely to develop allergies or asthma later(actual findings of some study done)
so it's her duty as a mother to expose her son to animals asap

Lori, you'll be doing that boy a favour if you kidnap him every once in a while to come play with all the animals! My best memories as a child are of field trips in the woods, watching, and collecting, and inspecting all the wildlife we could find! And the education we got with it was priceless!!
Your sister will eventually get over the "animal souvenirs" he comes home with. A little fur and doggie drool won't hurt any!!;)

I agree with both of you whole heartedly!! If I had a kid, he'd sure as heck be out in the pastures and the woods with me every day. Between her and my mom, that kid rarely touches the dirt and it drives me nuts. He already has some small allergy issues and I keep telling her, he needs to get OUTSIDE more. But this is her first and I guess she's overly protective...

It seems to be the trend among new moms lately to be a bit overprotective. My sister went through it a little at first, and so have some of my friends who've recently had little ones. It doesn't often last much past the first couple years though.
Once those busy, busy 2-year-olds get going, the moms usually learn that they can only protect so far. And then they're just too exhausted from chasing them around to worry about it anymore!!
And having a second child will most likely curtail even the most paranoid of new mothers.........:D

Oh, he's just beginning to get real busy now! She'll need valium and a long vacation before she even considers another baby, unless it's an "accident"!!:D
