:D
Well .... I decided Squiggles is soooo groovy that he/she/it should have it's own thread
Baby Squiggles arrived last Friday and has been the perfect example of a daft little Garter - poking it's head up from the delivery box and staring at me as if saying : "What the heck are you???"
This was followed by a squiggly 5 minutes of handling until I decided this was a bit of a crazy task  any advice on handling a speedy baby would be apprechiated, I've managed to have a relatively calm 15 minutes with Squiggles twice so far.
On his first day he managed to battle his moving in present (a worm which seemed capable of constricting Squiggles but lost out to serpent power before long) which amazed me :) how many snakes eat on the first day?
The second day I tested Squiggles with a 'main course' - a lovingly prepared slice of trout. I was about to remove this when I thought I'd cut it a little thick but Squiggles latched on to this and forced it down his little throat :) another result.
There's been lots of fun and games since then and I guess I felt like typing this out because I'm really chuffed with my little snake. Best christmas present I've ever had ... and .... he had his second slivver of trout today :).
Go Squiggles!!!!

(I apologise for this soppy snakelover post .... be warned .... there are more to come)

I'm glad to hear your little Squiggles is doing so well! Very pretty little snake, too. I also have a Squiggles but she is a different type of snake.

Keep sending pics, we get vicious if you don't... :-)

Greg, it just warms my heart to hear a grown man gushing so about his cute li'l snakey!!!! Especially when it's name is Squiggles-- too adorable!! I'm glad you're enjoying him so much, and I don't mind all the sappy posts, they're fun to read, and make me smile!:):)

:) and so it shall continue ;)
He/she/it (aka Squiggles) has indeed renewed the all important wardrobe. I'll get me camera sorted by Wednesday for pictures ;) . Think Squiggles was impressed with its efforts and decided to tolerate a good 20mins of handling to show himself off :D . I rewarded this with another feed which equals a lumpy snakey under it's favorite log as well as a happy owner :o . I need to fill my old tank with something else now ... anyone offering up any babies in the UK in 2008? .... or maybe I'll just have to hope there's a Hamm when my band tours next year lol

:D Squiggles is now the proud owner of a very large water bowl and a thermostat for his mat :) ... unfortunately the new arrival of the large rock-like pool has scared him into hiding under his bark :o awwww bless.

The little bugger is driving me nuts  he's spent 99% of the day buried in his Aspen bedding .... :o I hope this trend wears of soon ... be nice to see the little wierdo sometime :p

anji1971
12-20-2007, 05:45 PM
I wouldn't expect to-- I changed over to aspen bedding a couple months ago, and I haven't seen Deejay much since except when feeding day rolls around. She just loves to burrow in the aspen, all I usually see is her head poking out!!

 Squiggles is still being antisocial ... Slithers (my red-sided newbie) has been perfect so far, really calm yet active and was zealously stuffing itself with trout today .... Squiggles, on the other hand, is still lost in the Aspen and didn't come out for food either (weirdo), think I might be stressing him out by hunting through the stuff for him so I'm just going to let him be for a couple of days  maybe that'll sort it (but ... I ordered a solution :D reptile carpet  the days of snake hunting and Aspen ingestion worry are over :)) ...
Terri's Florida Blue (Clint) is still a little nervous (has had it's good moments but is still a larger Squiggles in the handling stakes) .... so he's getting left alone too. Children huh? ... nothing but trouble.

Slithers loves climbing ... and ... if you look closer you can see little weirdo Squiggles frantically burrowing to escape the camera in the top right corner rofl.
Hoping to get some good shots of Clint tomorrow.
