Well, my little Dekay's snake has finally arrived, and is settling in nicely in his new home. I still can't quite get over how small he really is, his little head is smaller than my pinky fingernail! He's about 10 inches long though -- just a skinny little guy. I put him in Deejay's old 12 by 12 inch terrarium, with a little house I made out of the cardboard core from a roll of duct tape, with a driftwood roof. I gave him a nice climbing branch too, and he seems to really like it-- he is currently lounging up on the branch watching TV with the kids!
I had a lot of fun last night watching him explore, he would tunnel through the aspen bark and poke his little head out all over the tank. I could just hear him thinking, "Wow! Cool! This place is so neat! Oh look, what's over there on that side? Cool, a tree!! YAY!!!" I don't think I've ever seen a critter look so excited to be somewhere! And when I picked him up he just curled up in my hand -- he must know how much mommy loves him.........awwwww!
Anyway, this is just a little intro thread; I'm borrowing a camera tomorrow, so I'll post a formal introduction in a couple days, complete with pictures! Just had to share my little snaky story -- I'm SO thrilled to have him!:D

Weeelllll.........the name thing is becoming an issue. I asked Mike(Garterking) to think of a name since he was kind enough to give me the snake, and he told me his friend's daughter was calling him Sandy. Fair enough, at least to me!
My children, however, being the little pains in the neck they can sometimes be, are bugging me to call him Stitch, because they think the markings on his back look like stitches! So I refer to 'Sandy' and get "Who??? Ohhhhh, you mean Stitch, right Mom?" The little buggers!
I think I'm just going to call him Mr. S and put an end to the whole thing!;)

BTW I'm collecting as many pics as I can while I have this camera, they'll be up by the weekend....IF YOU ALL QUIT PESTERING ME!!!!!:D:D

My girlfriend's daughter came up with the name Sandy becouse of his colour. If the kids want to name him Stiches, I don't think any of us will mind. As long as Sandy/Stiches is happy and healthy, the rest is secondary. Have you gotten him to eat since you got him??

He hasn't eaten yet, but that's probably because I tried the most stressful way first. I took him out of his tank and put him in the little tub I use to feed Deejay, and put a couple worms in with him. He did notice them, but he seemed to be too busy trying to get out of the tub to eat! I'm going to try again tonight, but this time I'm going to put the worms in a little dish right in his tank so he's more comfy about it!
He seems to be pretty settled in his house, and he loves to watch Pokemon in the morning with the kids! He sits next to the glass with his head straight up, looking at the TV!!:)

Alright, alright.......just read your posts about the feeding adventure, so I'll take pity on you. Just let me get dinner and housework done, and I'll put them up tonight. You're lucky you're such a good whiner, Lori!:D

Oh-oh................it looks like all the whining in the world won't help today! Just went to load all these pics into the computer, and found out my father-in-law forgot to send the USB cable over with the camera!! So I guess we're all waiting now! At least I can take more pictures in the meantime..........
