I just wanted to say that I have been on several forums & this one is the best! Everyone here is great! I have not seen any rude post or anyone "flaming" others on here like on all the other snake forums. One forum I used to be a regular on, has a guy that starts a "war" with everyone that he disagrees with & "puts down" anyone that doesn't have his same beliefs. I am a Christian & do not believe in macro-evolution. I do not push my beliefs on anyone, but some "biologist" on other forums leap @ every opportunity to flame us for our beliefs. It is so good that this forum works with everyone that comes on here sharing information to help each other raise their snakes. That is the way it should be! Thanks to all that participates in this forum & to the moderators. They must do some good work to keep it civil, plus I must say, I have not seen the spam porn pop uphere like on other forums. Great Job!:D

Come on, what could we even fight about, tetrataenia vs. radix, which is better? :D And we don't really discuss anything other than garters. I think it's thanks to the members, we haven't really forced the moderators to issue warnings or bans yet. It's a friendly place and the members have successfully kept it that way.

But since you brought it up, I personally don't have a problem with people of faith, as long as they keep their religion to themselves.

I have not seen the spam porn pop-up here like on other forums.

The ubiquitous porn spammers are amongst us. I filter out and ban between 5 and 10 every day. There's no escape! But at least you guys don't have to worry about finding it on here by accident.

I would agree that this is a wonderful site. I have been continually impressed with the nice behaviour that I see. I go to other sites where questions and comments that many might think are silly are flamed by many people. I have seen similar posts here but I have not seen people treat those posters poorly. It is truly a breath of fresh air to see that. I have to admit I think a lot of the reason that this board works so well is because of the diverse nationalities.

So thanks to everyone who makes this site so pleasant and thanks to Jerry for starting this thread.

When I started to become a serious garter keeper, we had a nice chat om this site.
I´ve lost so many hours of my life here.
After the owner had changed it has become totally renewed and grown better.
Now I´m again spending much time here, although it is still straining to read and write everything in English.
I feel at home here!

I couldn't agree more with Stephan, but I also think there was a tone set early on that we're all hear to learn from and help one another. Then people who visited liked the atmosphere and stayed. It could have gone either way, but luckily an atmosphere of mutual respect has prevailed... that, and the moderator's ability to modify the rare post that seems a little "hot" has helped. One more acknowledgement has to go out to Boots for making such a user-friendly forum. If it wasn't such a simple forum, people would get frustrated, and things would break down.

I came here looking for information about Garters, as I will be getting one soon, and I have all I need now... but Thamnophis feels like home! It makes me feel like I'm NOT a freak for loving snakes!! Whenever I try to talk about different snakes with my friends, well.. you can guess their reaction.. but here, it's normal! The people here are great! Other forums are filled with "flaming" & @ any given time there is a war going on.

The only problem here is keeping up with the posts. This is the most active forum I go to. Right now it says 46 unread post. I was just on 8 hours ago!

The only other forum that even comes close to being this good is the Rattlesnake forum I go to; Rattlesnake :: Index (http://www.ratelslangen.nl/forums/index.php) Not near as many posts, but good people. Both forums have alot of people from Europe & Canada on them. Maybe that is what is wrong with the other forums, They are ran by the Americans...LOL!

Thanks again for all that make this the best forum on the net!

As Stefan rightly points out, some people struggle occassionally to remain diplomatic (myself included) when certain topics arise, but I think we can discuss these topics in an adult manner without hurting each other. In fact I think we should make a point of discussing these more controvertial subjects as often as possible... nothing should be taboo.... as long as we remain nice to each other.

Have you been to other forums? "Flaming" is the norm on most of them. I just talked to Brian Hubbs last night. He just joined this forum & he said everyone here seems to be nice. Hubbs is a well known kingsnake author & photographer & if you know him, that is alot coming from him. One thing I appriciate about this site is how weather a novice or advanced, all are welcome. We can choose which threads to read or pass. We have that choice with the number of post made here daily. I think "Garter Snake People" are different than other "Snake People", but maybe that is a good thing;) I think this is the one site that I have never got upset after visiting.
