I know you guys really want pics of this one, but sorry - the story's all you're gonna get, 'cause I was just too stressed at the time
one of my kings had wedged himself between the two panels of the sliding glass doors and I was certain he couldn't get himself back out
I kept working on it, but the doors don't come out and he started having abrasions and what looked like bruising
I ended up calling the rescue
Sean, the guy who runs the rescue lived right around the corner, and lucky for me, I just caught him before he was going out, so he came over and somehow got my little wanna-be Houdini out
all of this seems so straight-forward right now, but at the time it was high crisis, with Mikhaila wailing and accusing me of killing the snake, because I had forgotten to stuff the tubing in that gap
he's still alive, but a bit banged up
whew!

awww rhea. that is just unlucky. i was worried about that with my marcys when i first got them. how big is your king? there is only possibly enough room to fit a tiny baby garter through the gap in my tank lol at least everything was ok in the end and i am sure he will be ok.
I can feel for you on that one. Had a similar ordead last year. Hope the King snake is OK.

he's about three feet long and about an inch think
I didn't think that gap could fit anything bigger than a one-year-old garter
but he had to try . . .
it was scary to see him hanging there, with stuff squeezing out of his vent
he didn't seem anywhere near as stressed as we were
I think he was headed for the garters

never underestimate a snakes ability to escape.....I put a stray red tail (some one's escaped pet that was found) in a cat cage (they don't trust us officers enough to give us keys to the rooms with the snake tanks in...:() thinking that the 6 ft snake couldn't get thru the 1 1/2 inch gaps....I got a serious surprise the next morning as the snake did squeeze out!!!! I didn't think this snake could squeeze thru such a small gap but he did.

this is Lav, the escape artist

and this is the little abrasion/bruise he got away with

I don't think it'll prevent him from trying anything in the future, but he didn't really want to leave his damp hide today

Luckily that in the end he didn't have any serious injuries... Hopefully he'll be his old self in no time again.

Poor guy. I read about some guy who was holding his king snake high and put it in a fan. The snake was banged up, but survived.
It looks like minor bruising.

I think he's fine
I'm making him skip feeding day though

this time he didn't get away
but he did point out a possible weak spot which I proceeded to fix
it pissed him off a little and he gave me this kind of attitude

I'm sure he's working on his next plan
