She's a sweet green ... with a super personality ... She has that ostrich like "hide your head and keep still" baby garter type attitude which makes for good photo ops :)

Adorable! I want one too!!!
I am going through snake withdrawals ever since my mommy snake passed away, everyone else seems to be finding these darlings, and quite frankly, I'm envious:D!!!! I guess I'll just keep going on nature walks and looking, should have a few weeks left before they all disappear for the winter!
Good luck with your l'il green baby!!!!!!!!

Thank You all ... Yeah, I know this happens but when baby #1 arrives DOA and then #2 dies shortly afterward you have to wonder ... The only baby I have at the moment is an ANERY Red_Sided I got from Scott Felzer. Little "Annie" arrived very active and alert, feeds well and explores as one would expect. I only got the Green as a littermate of sorts for "Annie" however since #1 was DOA I kept #2 housed seperatley even though she did feed a few times I was a bit uneasy about her constant heat basking. Good thing as I would feel really bad if I caused Annie any harm ... Since I have had my share of babies this year I have noted different behaviors that seem to reflect their overall health ... Lessons learned ;)

Best,

Damn sorry to hear that Marian. I almost wonder if the little Maritimes aren't kind of delicate. I had two of the four I got from Ben (vwsrcool) die on me after about a week as well. That's a real shame too, looked like that one had really nice green colour to it.

I know what it is like, my babies kept dying one after the other all this past summer, they would be eating and lively one day and dead the next.:(:( Of all the babies I only have 2 left. They look great growing and eating, but I am kinda paranoid now because the others were too. Probably won’t try to get babies again, or will let them go as soon as they are born.:(:(

babies are just so fragile
I am always anxious until they're grown a bit
I used to be so anxious every time I fed them that the blood would pound in my ears thankfully it rarely gets that bad now

I'm so sorry you lost so many - it makes one feel so helpless and heart weary

Wow, guys, reading this makes me realize how lucky I am to have my Deejay. I didn't really know anything about raising garters from babyhood, and i was just sort of winging it. Somehow she's grown up healthy and strong, but now I'm not so sure if it was thanks to me or just sheer luck!!!!!
