We have the two babies (born end of may), one puget & one red-sided, and they were both the same size when they arrived about two and a half weeks ago.

They both ate the rosy reds at their first feeding, about two weeks ago, but the red-side has yet to eat again. The red-sided is lively, but thin and its growth isn't keeping up with the puget. We've tried rosy reds or guppies, tapped the guppies against her nose, but no luck. Tomorrow I'll separate them, and leave fish in the bowl in their tank. any other suggestions?:(

That happened to me, 2 of 6 were not eating...not even a small piece since they were born. So I had to force feed them, like 4 times, until yesterday, I grabbed the piece of trout/worm with a medical clamps and moved a little bit in front of them and problem solved...:D all of them ate, and the ones that eat by their own are almost twice the size of the weak ones. But now I have the trick....

Maybe I'll do the video of a force feed...not hurting the snake and with extra-care, could be handy for a few people. Although it's not that difficult ;)

Luck with your babies :p

I think a video would be very helpfull to a lot of people here. It would probably even save some lives. Thanks Dekan

one of my little ones wasn't eating for a couple of weeks
I'd started calling him runty
yesterday he got his name changed to picky
he sucked down a big piece of trout
I had offered him trout twice before during his fast and he'd not gone fer it - or worms, or pinkie strips, or minnows frozen and live . . .
I'd been quietly freaking, because he's a lovely little snake - great colouring and a sweet personality
it's true that it helps if the food seems to be moving a little
when I offered him the trout yesterday, I held him for a little bit and then sort of moved him side to side a little right over the plate with the trout strips, so he could smell them and they were right in front of his face, but they seemed to be not quite holding still
it took a bit of staying with it, but it worked

Well, she shed. Maybe that's why she wasn't eating?

Yes, they will go "off feed" for a few reasons and shedding is one of them. Not to worry as "she" should want to eat now.

Best Wishes,

YESSS!! :-) Mordecai is getting ready to shed for the first time since I've had him and he's looking very dopey and lethargic today. Don't think he'll eat. We'll see... Miriam ate while in the middle of her shed!
