Yea, checked out my boi today, and his eyes are glazed with a light hazy blue, is he just getting ready to shed??? his scales are starting to look kinda.... inconsistant- they dont' have the same luster all the way down his back... i've never had/seen a snake shed so this is all new to me... hopefully this is what it is

thats the normal process for a shed. the snakes eyes will clear up and about 2 days later will shed.

:D NICE!!!:D Thanx for the info guys, i kinda figured that was it... How often do they shed, once a year- or as needed for their growth??? either way i'm really pumped up to see his new skin:cool: BTW my buddy has some peeling belly scales in the last couple weeks- how do u think this will affect his shed??? it probably just won't be in one piece, correct?

if its a complete shed you know you got the temps right in his cage.. if it sheds off peices the temps not right.. some times the shed will come off by its self if not sometime you have to help them.. its like having a peeling sun burn.. only no burn.. you wont know if its going to be a complete shed till it does shed.. but it best just to leave him alone till it does.. ;)

It's just something I've been pushing. Waiting for some results. No takers yet.

The shed skin just smells vaguely of fish.

I don't know if it smells like fish, but it does have a bit of a smell, maybe like dead skin........

By the looks of her eyes, I think our red-sided is getting ready to shed. she wont eat either. Does that sound right? Also, why do they shed? I understand the insect thing, but fish dont, do they? And why does it come off in one piece?

they can shed anywhere from 3-6 or more sheds a year, depending on how small they are and how fast they are growing. adults shed less as they aren't growing as fast.

everybody sheds - even you
snakes just shed in one piece
humans shed little flakes
my plated lizards shed scales (sort of in between)
it's basic cell death
the human body supposedly replaces almost all of it's cells over the course of seven years
