i didnt even know she was gravid! i got a male het for albino checkered about 3 or 4 months ago, and put him in with the big female albino. never saw them mate , but i guess they did.

there werent any albinos though, anyone know why?

There are two possible reasons:
first: the male is not het,
second: no albino sperms could make thier way
Its like a coin allway falling to the same side

how many babies have you got?

Congrats Ben. Yeh, I'm guessing the male may not be het or might just be luck of the draw. Unfortunately can't get any.......no more snakes 'til I get rid of my thayeri's.

oh Ben
they're lovely
you were probably hoping for more albinos
I know they're more valuable
but truthfully - I like these better
I imagine the gene for albinism would be on the X chromosome
since it's recessive that would mean that even though the male is het, he really doesn't have it
I mean "het' is really an assumption based on his parentage

nice babies!!! it's possible for the 2 to have different albino genes also....different place on the dna strands....have to match up to produce albinos....save a male to breed with the mother and you should get albinos :D scott felzer has a bunch of info on genetics on his web site.
