I am on Facebook too, but I don't like it much. I haven't done anything with it. My son prefers Facebook so I have one there so I can have access to emails from him.

I use it- basically its good to keep up to date with relatives a bit more. I dont post much, just read the friends updates to see whats new.
The usefulness of facebook depends largely on how well all your friends use it. If they regularly post informative updates, it can really serve a good purpose. But, If all you get is a bunch of people updating you that they are home from work, or tired from work, or watching tv... then its pretty much a waste of time.

Google is 10-15 times its size and they know everything you put on Facebook, plus everything you've done on the internet that you don't dare tell anyone about.

Yeah, but Google is practically the only organization that actually looks at the info. ISPs don't generally care, but Google uses that information.

Yeah, thinking about that. But seriously, if you google, you know, XBOX 360, browse for it a few times... For the next few months, unless you google something else, there will be ads XBOX ads everywhere. Real and fake. NFL.com, yahoo!.com... It's crazy.

There are ways around that. For one, you can set your personal Google settings so that it does not keep a history of your browsing or searches. For another, you can use ad blocking software to prevent the ads from showing up. And though I'm not sure, I do think Google's ads work by way of tracking cookies, so clearing out your cookies when you close your browser should help too. I do all three.
