Hi all,
Since so many of us have struggled to post pictures, I thought I'd start a new thread that we can link to, rather than type out instructions for, each time someone new needs to know how to post pictures.

One way to post pictures is to go to the "photo gallery" section, and click the "Upload Photos" link near the top right corner. Click the "Browse" button and find your photo on your home computer. After you've selected your photo, fill out the title, description, and keywords (optional), and click "upload/submit." This will upload your picture onto the thamnophis website and start a gallery under your screen name.

Next, pull up your picture in the thamnophis photo gallery, and click on the "COPY TO CLIPBOARD" button below your picture. On your next post, you can simply right click, and select paste wherever you want to insert your picture. Text similar to:

[img] http:... [\img]

will appear until you click the "SUBMIT NEW THREAD" button. When you post your message, your picture will appear.

What I do is open two explorer windows. Click anywhere in your active window, then hold down the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard and push the "N" button. This will give you a second browser, so you can copy from one and past to the other.

Ok, cool....wasn't sure if that'd work or not....thanx!:D

That´s a trick I did not know. Thanks.

okay
I know, my eyesight isn't great, but generally I'm good at finding things, and I cannot find the "copy to clipbaord" button below my picture or anywhere else on that page.
Since I'm on a Mac, I also don't have a crl button.
I do want o be able to this - help please.

The apple button should be the same as control, or you could right click if you bought a seperate mouse not made by apple (sorry, I just HATE apple and could go on for hours about why).

okay thanks
I do that too with things I hate
all computers pretty much frustrate me
but they're convenient too
and without one, I certainly couldn't be here
drifting a bit here

Hi Rhea,

I think abcat1993 is correct. While I have not used a Mac in about 20 years, man did I love the Apple 2E....all the great games like Aztec, Montezuma’s revenge, and … Sorry, that could be a thread all it's own. :)

I found the following website that might help Using the Windows and Macintosh Clipboard: A Tutorial (http://www.diskbooks.org/clipboard.html)

Mac users: You will use the COMMAND key instead of the CONTROL key. The COMMAND key is also know as the Open-Apple key or the Snowflake key and is at either end of the space bar.

The best way to copy, paste, and cut is to hold down the CONTROL/COMMAND key while you tap the appropriate action key. [See chart below] Don't try to press the CONTROL key and the Action keys simultaneously. It is nearly impossible.
Hope this info helps. Back to dreaming about the good old days.

the copy/paste part is not the issue, actually

there's tabs in firefox, that make it really easy to move between pages

but I still just get a URL that someone can click on, rather than the actual image

there must be some crucial something I'm not doing

I tend to be better with power tools and a pitchfork . . .

Can you please try posting a picture. It might give mw an idea where the problem is. You should be able to just copy and past the image string from below the picture in the gallery.

Hot tip
Jeff showed me this site that lets you alter sizes and file sizes of pictures.
It's at:

Resize Images online (http://www.shrinkpictures.com/)

really easy to use (just what I needed).
Now perhaps I can post some of those early pictures with the gigantic file sizes

I tend to be better with power tools and a pitchfork . . .

But you're an acupunturist! Scary!

it's also a manual skill, requiring very little electronic equipment.
And if the patient gives me trouble I can always resort to the pitchfork.

Can someone help me? I don't have a link that says "upload pictures" anywhere. I go to gallery and to my pictures but nowhere do I see an upload link. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

It may be just because you're a brand new member. Once you have posted a few times and your posts don't go into the "moderation queue", the link may appear.

It should be on the extreme right, just above the "search" button.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it :)

One more post from you, and if I'm right the upload option should then appear.

This is the family. They are about 6 weeks old in this picture. The space they are in is only 2" square

Brilliant photo, Jake! It's a shame you missed out on last month's baby picture contest....that might have won.

Thanks. I'll start a new thread so I can let this one remain on topic. I probably shouldn't have posted the picture here, sorry. Should I start it under "General Talk" or is there a more appropriate place? Thanks for your help.

Hi Jake, the photo is fine where it is, it's close enough to topic. If you want to start a new thread of your photos, as you say "General Talk" is the place to do it. I'll look forward to seeing them.

I followed your directions for putting pictures in the gallery. I did one set of four of my African House Snake, and it made four of each in the gallery. I tried to delete the extras and now I just see black squares. I have no idea what I did. When I did a similar set of my garter, it worked fine.
