44 perfect babies (T.s.s "Florida Blue"). No defects, no dead ones and no infertile eggs.
The "little" female should give birth soon too

Wow Soe, that looks very nice.
44 young is a very nice number. Well done!
Do you think you can find enough new keepers for them?
Hi
The same female gave birth to 29 babies in April 2006. They were easely sold even surplus males, and many asked for them in Houten. Strangely enough I had some problems selling my other Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis

Locality "Chilton road, Montevallo, Chilton county Alabama"
They are very rare in that area, but a friend collected a female, and I found a male the day before I should go home. They bred and I got a nice clutch of them too.
I kept a few for myself and I do find them very beautiful

Congratulations, Søe. :)
I bet 44 babies could be "a bit" overwhelming if you don't know what to expect. Personally, I'm already waiting in horror for that first batch. :p
Any idea how many babies you could expect from a female that hasn't been bred before?

Hi Soe, you were in Houten on October 8 this year?
Than I might have looked at your table.
It's a small world. :)
Hi
Yes I was at Snakeday and Hamm also actually. You probably didn`t see them among all the ratsnakes :) I do prefer Snakeday though even I also have quite a few lizards breeding. Hamm is all too hot in September. 49*C was messured on a table there. I had to cool some of mine with water and removing them from the table.

It is, but I raise them in groups of about 10, and I actually don`t have many problems. Seperating in size is mandatory though to prevent too much canibalism. Raising seperately would be the best, but takes a lot of time with more than hundred babies at a time. I still do that with juveniles where I only have a few or when needed to enlarge my collection.
I think the "small" female will deliver about 25 - 30 but let us see. She is still eating a lot even big fish, so I don`t thing that she will give birth soon
Best wishes

When you come to Houten - Snake Day in 2007 we maybe will meet. I go there every year.
Maybe we can organize a "meeting" there in 2007 for the European forum-members.
