I hope so, I just hope the theme I have chosen isn't a little bit too demanding....It will certainly take patience and time to catch them yawning. This months' winner will have their work cut out! I can't enter the competition, but to be fair, I'm going to try to get a yawning pic too and post it in this thread.

I've been planning to go for a shot that would cover all of them
but
baby snake, curled up on the rocks, yawning with it's head of the substrate
it's getting to be a bit much
now I'll never catch up . . .

I like the idea Stefan, but I doubt that Boots would go for it. :)

It wasn't a serious suggestion and it's a bad idea to mix videos into photo contests anyway. :p I just think it's funny that I haven't been able to take a single photo of them yawning, but I do have a short film. Well, I can always participate with a screencap from that one. ;)

Buggar this is going to be a tough one!!!! Figures, I just got a great shot of my PI king in mid yawn....have to work on the garters now.

I think as the days pass we will see some entries to the competition. I know it's a hard one, but that's all part of the fun, is't it? Bit of a challenge! I'm going to have a go, even though I can't enter.

the only time i have seen them opening their mouth is when they are eating and to replace their jaw afterwards. but i am unable to pit pics on the comp :(

After I fed my new concinnus last night I saw them yawn for times (not each, between the two of them!) So I expect to get a decent yawning photograph this weekend.

I missed a brilliant opportunity, my eastern black neck was on top of her hide in a classic garter pose with her head raised up and she did a great yawn, i was so annoyed that i didnt have the camera near by.

I knew the trick with feeding before and try to feed each snake alone
with the camera in the hand.
My camera has a serial shot function but the photos are always taken before or after yawing like this

Shot that almost 2 years ago. :D Long before this forum even existed.

So yes, I just take a lot of footage. Or at least I used to. >2500 garter related pictures so far. That includes pictures of anything related to keeping them.

Seems that the pictures of the entries in the two polls were mixed up. Caption contest entries are in the Photo contest poll and the Photo contest entries in the Caption contest poll.

I would be surprised if it changed much from now to the end of voting....

The photos and captions are sorted out now guys. And the voting polls have been returned to zero to avoid any confusion. So if you voted prior to the pics getting sorted please vote again. If it won't allow you to vote just drop Boots a PM telling him who you want to vote for and he'll register your vote. Good luck guys.:)
