Very nice looking radix Josh, that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for myself. Do the babies you got look like her? Nick still hasn't posted any pics on the ones he's got, so I imagine that the little ones you've gotten are one in the same. Would love to see what they look like, so I could know if I wanted to get a pair from him or not.

Of all the oddball subspecies throughout the continent, I still think that stark stripe on the radix makes them the most beautifull of them all.

Good they made it there safely! It's been such a hassle lately, so I actually didn't see if they made it until about just ten minutes ago due to my job and the wife. :D My poor wife slammed her finger in my truck door...wish her luck neh?

Yes, I'm also lagging on the pictures I promised everyone. I'm letting them all munch away and get bigger, while I try to piece my poor camera back together again so I can get some decent pictures. Although it looks like Josh has beat me to the pictures here. Heh. Glad to see that big girl is safe at home as well...I actually haven't tried much of the pinkie strips with her, she seems to love her worms and guppies plenty though so if you have problems feel free to throw some of those in. Just in case.

Also, we still have a ton of those little babies left, if anyone wants them...come snag them up, please? XD

Yeh, they are VERY tempting. Think I might wait and see what I can find at the Hamburg show next Sat. first. If anything, to just save on having to ship animals.

Oh I am....I've heard nothing but good things...honestly though, don't want to end up with another "brown" snake. I know the normal radix that Felzer has aren't really all that attractive......brown with kind of yellowish stripes. I know...I know...I love ALL garters, but the ones I want for my collection I want to really wow me, not just have them to have them. (Sorry if I've insulted anyones brown radix:o). I'm limited by space and can only realistically get one more pair of garters this year....so going to wait to see what's at Hamburg and if nothing grabs me there, think I'll go in for a pair (very tempted for the 5 for $10 each, but don't have room for 5 more snakes!!). Radix will definitely be part of my collection, just want to make sure I get the "right" ones.

Josh, Wow she is truly a beauty !!! I kept several flavors of Radix in the past and found them to be quite docile. My personal preferance is the ' normal ' variety of Radix. Yours do have a very nice, vivid stripe and all around clean looking color.

Best of Luck,

The vivid dorsal stripe on T. radix is one of the many features that makes this species my firm favourite.

not true
the ones I got from Scott (normals) are definitely not brown snakes with a stripe
and as soon as I've had a few more cups of tea, I'll take pix to show you

okay
so the male isn't the most stunning radix ever, but for a baby I think his colouring is quite decent

very nice looking snakes Rhea...................:)

mikm

Rhea the stripes are a VERY nice orange !!! The difference I see is that the ground color of the other Radix posted appear to be more of a green/gray color rather than chocolate like yours. Maybe the different cameras or perhaps the difference is the indoor/outdoor lighting ???

I just looked at Scott's site and the adult Radix sure are brown with a pale yellow stripe. Interesting how those throw the intense bright orange of the various flavors of Radix Albinos. Anyone know why that might be ???

Best Wishes,

GarterGuy

Very nice looking snakes Rhea, yeh.....they pretty much look nothing like the ones he's got posted on his site. I have to say though, I do prefer the gray/green backround colour though of the female and babies that Josh got. I'm actualy trying to get a pair of the same babies as Josh, just waiting to hear back form Nick (aka Howler).

wirklich hübsch Rhea
are they called to be normals or maybe het for purple blotched or anything else?

drache
09-14-2007, 03:34 PM
no
these are totally normals
and to the naked eye they look more dark green than brown
Scott Felzer has some seriously bad pix on his site
the one of his radix has nothing to do with the snakes you end up getting
same with the e.vagrans
I've consistently ended up with animals that surpassed my expectation

Hey Rhea, That's been my overall experience with Scott too. I have always gotten lovely animals from him. Funny you mention it but I saw a young Wandering of Scott's in person and it looked SO much better then the web site pic. I was so surprised at how it looked ...

I think he has great photos....however, he just takes general photos for his site, not always getting shots of th e best snakes...I have gotten many snakes from him....always nice looking!!!!!!
