How old is your sister, Josh? Try not to resent her too much.

I'm so sorry, Josh! I know how it is with family. You may love them, but you don't always like them. Poor little baby, he didn't deserve that.

hey Josh,
Sorry to hear about your loss,it's tuff,no matter what, the reason was,but she's only five. As a father of six, might I suggest, that it's time for her to help you,let her get familiar with them, when mine reached the age of four, they where helping me,change their water, holding the ever so softly, while I cleaned out the set-ups,I taught them right away, what to do and not do,if they got bit. They would walk along the fields with me looking for anything,I would even see one ,and not say anything, letting them "find it" on their own,my youngest daughter,Autumn, just turned 11,has been bitten, more times than most of you will be bitten in your life time, she's been catching snakes,on her own,in the neighborhood since she was 6. If you take your time and work slowly with her,it'll never happen again, and if one should get loose, she'll know what to do.If she's abit scared of them right now, don't let her hold them, but help with their care, right now, holding them comes later.
If your other snakes are babies,it'll be easier for her to understand, it's not uncommon for Autumn,to walk around the neighborhood with our 6 1/2 ft Bull snake, wrapped around her face
My daughter #2,doesn't want anything to do with them, but she's not afraid of them, and will put them back,if they should get out.

you know what. i totally agree with joe. my lil brother used to annoy me like silly but it helps if you can find something you are both interested in and this could be it. atleast its worth a try.

I agree my two kids have been hold and playing with snakes ever since they were 3 yrs old, now mind you they were pythons and boas which tend to cling to ya anyway but still the same principal.....good luck..:)
