Sorry Josh, I couldn't resist, but at least I beat James to it. I used polyurethane varnish on mine. Don't know about acrylics.

I used polyurethane varnish on mine, too.
BUT people who make enclosures for a living seem to use some form of epoxy injection resin intended to be used to repair cracks in concrete, to cover the inside of the enclosure/vivarium. Should make the surface close to bulletproof. ;) The brand they use around here is Nanten IHS or IHP, I forget which is which. It's apparently safe to use in even in aquariums. I'd imagine that it would make just about any paint safe to use.
okay thanks,
should i put that on before or after, i nail it together?

I covered all of the inside surfaces of my viv. with Aquarium sealant silicone.....that way any water spill or moisture could easily be wiped away......and wouldn't hurt the wood....if thats what your talking about......I don't think there is a need tp paint the viv.....but thats just me.....
