Okay, not completely finished yet, but already showing you guys my new reptile room.
enjoy...(?)
One enclosure, meausurements (spelling...) 90 X 40 X 40

some enclosures,
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/reptile-paradise/tokodeelstelling.jpg
and a small overviewhttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s285/reptile-paradise/tokometTL.jpg
each rack cost me €30,-. The wood is a leftover from a friend of mine (works at DIY store)
one sheet of wood usually costs around 15 / 20 euro. 10 sheets are used.
the electrical wiring costs €0,55 per meter.
Fittings will be €0,95 each.
Dont know the price of glass / rails yet...This will probably be the most expensive part of the project...
updates will follow...and...when finished, you're all invited!

Sjoerd...That's fantastic! You'll have room for about a million snakes!

Looks great! :) Most of all, I envy all the space you have there. I think I have about 15 square meters of space for everything I own. :D So when I'm talking about throwing out the TV to make more room, I'm not kidding.

I'll look forward to seeing photographs as the new room developes. I too wish I had that kind of space to build in.

Can you imagine hundreds off pigs wandered around this room 20 years ago...
I hope to fitt the glass for 8 enclosures before next monday...so, maybe some update pics by then(?!!?)
oh, by the way, this isnt even the half of the stable! I already have two little rooms (3 X 3) but they will then be used for crickets, fish and other fooditems.
The other half is now a bit of my storage room, with a lot of plastic tubs, wood, fake plants, styrofoam boxes etcetc...

I thought it looked like a piggery or something...with those low, dividing walls! You live on a farm?
reptileparadise
08-19-2007, 01:29 PM
yeah...ex-farm...but you wont hear any complaints, quiet, alot of space and no neighbours

That's great. You're very lucky.:) I just had another look at the http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/garter-snake-lounge/946-where-i-live.html thread and saw the aerial shot of your home...You really are VERY lucky!
reptileparadise
08-19-2007, 01:38 PM
yes indeed...would'nt say so if you saw the neighbours (100 meters down the road)...but hey, I can live with that, as long as he doesnt say anything to me...I've lived here from my second year but I stil cant understand him...

It looks fantastic and hey if you ever start opening your services up to making them for others on order drop me a note. Depending on the cost I'd be pretty interested into hearing what your prices are.
Good luck finishing your room!
That's awesome. What do you plan on keeping in all those enclosures?

hmmm, could we say herp farm?
farm bred garter snakes? lol...
The room is 9MX3M and about 2M high. The racks are 1,80M.
Today we wel install all fittings and plugs. And probably some glass sliders.
I dont think I will post any pictures by monday...A friend of mine is moving so all his herps are with me right now...and with all his herps...I mean everything!
Varanus acanthurus, Rhacodactylus ssp, Mabuya ssp, Paradoera ssp and Phelsuma ssp...By tonight there will probably also be some Panterophis and tortoises...So its a bit of a mess right now...
Here's why all his herps are with me right now...
He isn't allowed to have any! animals in his house and he's getting an inspection soon...lol...

18 complete, 18 more to do, that makes 24, right?

Hi,
Did you used any coating? Did you use different kind of wood for the side and bottom?
Greets Marcel
reptileparadise
10-07-2007, 01:16 AM
I didn't use any coating yet, but the vivs that get a bit moist (for instance, those of the Rhacodactylus) will be varnished.
Indeed two different kinds of wood. The bottom came with the rack, the other one looked the nicest in my humble opinion.

I´m snoopy to see your final set up.
Are you going to use plants in the enclosures?
reptileparadise
10-08-2007, 07:40 AM
Yes, I'm going to use (fake) plants in the thamnophis enclosures. I bought 38 meters of fake hedera today...
I'm planning some real plants in some of the gecko vivs. (Rhacodactylus, Oedura, 'the moist species').
The final result will come in 2, maybe 3 weeks...
