How similarly sized do two snakes need to be before you cohabitate them?
My erythristic flame eastern is a year old and my radix is about six months old. They live separately now. Both are females.
What do you think about their size differences? Thanks!

There is always a risk of feeding accidents even with like-sized snakes. If you are feeding individually (hand feeding or separate containers) there is a greatly reduced risk.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think these two would be safe together otherwise?

From the pics the Radix looks male. I would be careful. Tail pics would help

Hey Eddie,
Thanks for the note. It was sold to me by an experienced breeder as a female, but here are some tail pics if you can provide a second opinion. I’m still new to this. Thanks!

I agree that it looks Female from the pic. However, with regards to being sexed by an experienced breeder, they make mistakes. I’ve got 7 Garters from 4 different breeders and all four breeders erred. Usually the error is sexing a male as a female, but I’ve got a male checkered that turned out to be female.

Appreciate it. But why do you think about the safety of those two snakes living together given their size difference? They’ve both grown a little since the post. Thanks.

That's tricky. Based on the picture, I would personally keep them separated until they were closer in size. And even then, you'd want to monitor based on their individual feeding response.
