Let me first start out by saying that this is my first attempt at breeding garters. I have a 2 year old male and 2-2year old female infernalis. All of them are virgins and when I introduced the male to the females, I didn't witness any sort of breeding behavior or even courting for that matter. Is it maybe because there's 2 females in there? Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated. And to clear things up, I'm 100% sure of the genders. :)I

Nice project and good luck! Did you already brumate them? If not , that needs to happen to give the sex cells time to mature. It also is a natural behavior that prepares the snakes psychologically as well as physically to breed. It's good that you are 100% sure of the sexes. If you have brumated them then it's just a matter of which female is actively sending out (by scent) the pheromonal triggers to the male. That usually can be immediate but more than likely occurs after the female sheds out.

They can and will breed without a brumation. Everyone of my garters breeds their first time without a brumation

So it's not too odd to not see any of the tell tale signs? Maybe they are just doing "it" when I'm not in the room?

I would say I only witness maybe 50% of my successful breedings. I guess some snakes just don't like having an audience.
