Jittery males

Hi guys. More questions, but I didn't want to drift/hijak the earlier thread.

So, females are calmer? I really wanted males for their smaller size. Would a T.radix male likely be more jittery than another garter species? Would he likely grow out of it?

I am a nervous Nelly around my current four snakes as it is. Wasn't expecting to handle these much, but there is always some maintenance.

I've had a lifetime of contact with T. radix. Males as a rule will tolerate you as long as you have food or a female in your hand. They can be hand fed with little difficulty but don't expect them to stick around after the food is gone. I'd give it a 20% chance of getting a more social male. Females are more about contact and time, most are very trusting.

Male or female there is no 100 percent set rule, some are calmer than others but usually females are more calm. The calmest snake I own is actually a male eastern garter, all garters can be tamed, I have never had one that wasn't tameable to the point they will let you do whatever you want to them(as long as it isn't hurting them).

All my adults will eat, drink or allow me to pet them and none ever musk.
