I'm just learning about snakes and think my 3-6-year-old Montessori students would love to have such a pet; something small I can manage. A snake they could observe during the day. It would be mine of course to take care for. We already have a happy turtle!
So, after much research...I settled on garter snakes because the size, attitude and diet seemed to work. The most beautiful ones to me are the Eastern Flame garter. I think to have something native to the East Coast is preferable from an educational standpoint.I've been very surprised how hard it seems to find such animals for sale!
I look forward to learning and becoming a part of the community.
