I wouldn't. I have the same problem, I only have one possibly suitable picture and in it the snake is only partially on a rock. I'll take it as a challenge to take a picture before the voting starts. :) My snakes don't spend time on the rocks, so I'll probably have to stage it. ;)

There are only three pctures in the contest and I can already see that I´ve got to try a little harder then last month.

"On the rocks" means "on ice" in Germany but this seems a little too much to me.

Thanks :eek: :cool: It was the only rock available in my critter room and I didn't feel like cooking any of my snakes int he back yard on the rocks....:eek: That plastic rock isin my melaniustic garters tankj, she curls up in it all the time...and barely fits - she is 41 inches long!!!!:D who knows, I might actually get some votes this time!!!! LOL!!!!:rolleyes:

Well thank you, that was what I was aiming for. :)

Should have used the female, she's somewhat of a biter. How funny would it have been if the snake had been biting my hand in that picture? :D

I was o a kanu trip today and saw lots of nice rocks but no location for a pic. All were so near to the river that it is only possible to lose a snake there. But I will try again, there is some time to get a shot isn´t it?

Actually, most of Texas isn't desert. That part's about 500 miles away:rolleyes: lol The beach is actually only 50 miles away though, but there aren't any wild garters here...

I've been thinking (ya rly ;)). How about making the traditional caption contest into a more general comedy contest? The rules would otherwise be the same, but instead of just adding captions, you could also participate with photoshopped pictures?

I think Jason likes the idea of the two contests being linked, to keep a theme going. I will suggest starting up an additional competition though, involving picture editing. So if you have more detailed ideas of what you all would like to see, let me know and I'll put together a case for Jason to consider.

Well i dont want to sound like a party pooper but if that contest to happen there should be some kind of forum photo editor availible To level the playing fields. What do you think?

Although on the other hand you cant take pictures without cameras to enter in the contest. You buy cameras just like photo editors. And you dont see a forum camera:D

Not really. :D The problem is that not that many have the tools to edit pictures, that's why I thought it would be best to keep it a single contest, which should automatically level the playing field. Skill wouldn't be the deciding factor, but rather humour. A obviously fake picture made with Paint can easily be funnier than one done by a pro in Photoshop and on the other hand, a funny caption could easily beat them both.

My camera has a multiple shot option.
So its easier to catch the right moment, but it is harder to select the right pic at least.:confused:

James cause a lot of the trouble we have to fight;) He got a nice shot, well composed in colour and a hitting title. But you got a nice shot of a rare garter as well. I´ve never seen ´pallidulus alive:(

Thanks Udo: You spent 9 hours, and I spent 9 minutes, and that includes catching the snake, getting the camera, finding a rock, taking the photos and releasing the snake, and I thought that it took a long time. :eek: I certainty admire your persistence, and hard work. I think it paid off!

I can´t disclaim that I´ve had a lot of fun
trying different tricks to make the snakes pose and not hide.
and as an additional gain, I have two more albums with nice pics.

Wow, it took me about 90 seconds to take my picture. 60 seconds of giggling after I got the idea and about 30 seconds of unlocking the terrarium, grabbing the snake, putting it on the rock, taking the picture and closing up again.

Then again, you both took it a bit more seriously. ;)
