Hi everyone, So I have two T.Radix Garters and I have to admit that I am getting a little frustrated about getting them used to being handled. I want to respect them and earn their trust but also have more interaction with them. I tried handling my smaller one everyday but it got to the point that she was so stressed she would take off and hide from me every time I opened the cage. So I stopped trying to do that. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!!

I have found its best to handle and interact with them on their own terms.
How are you feeding them? Feeding from tongs, hemostats, and eventually your own hand will build trust, but you should know that it may take some time.

Hand feeding is important as they will associate you as a food giver. T. radix as a rule can become very clingy and want to be held. As Mel said it all has to be done on their terms and time table. Hemostats are a great tool. If you need a couple pair let me know. I have a couple hundred in stock and will send them free of charge. Message me with your info for shipping.

I have been feeding from long tweezers. I will try to start using my hand. Thanks for the good advice!!
