Basically I got really bored and figured out how to work my webcam. ;)
The only video I have up right now is on rosehair tarantulas, but I'm going to be putting up garter videos soon. If anyone has any suggestions or anything I'd love to hear them. At any rate, I'll post on the main forum when I do a garter one. Just figured I'd go ahead and put this up in case anyone is interested!
Anyways, here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYLlg99TsQm4gmfys2SOjRw

Nicely done. You already taught me alot about rosehairs that I didn't know (something I was actually thinking of keeping until Delilah popped into my life outa nowhere lol). Keep the videos rolling though for sure....when you gonna do garters, you have the potential to probably put out the best youtube vid on how to take care of them. All the rest are full of misinfo and omissions (just look at snakebytes vid ><).

Thanks! I love working with Shebulba (that's the rosehair) but she's a beast to deal with, that's for sure. I'm doing garters next I think... Probably going to do a series so I don't end up with forty five minutes of me rambling about how awesome they are lol.
OMG I was browsing the garter care videos-- part of what made me decide to do the channel-- and I swear three in a row from different people DROPPED the snake while they were filming! Nothing too dangerous, but still... Why would you put something like that out there as an example of how to handle one?

Sounds like a good idea. Break it down into sections like housing, feeding, breeding all that good stuff.
And yes, they are all terrible. I won't act like I haven't dropped Delilah (especially when she was first getting used to me and super squirmy) but ya, they could have done another take at least for professionalism.

Oh yeah, I think everyone that's had garters has had one dart out of their hands at least once, but it just seems like a bad idea to put it on the internet.

Speaking of feeding and nutritional value, I wish somebody would do a breakdown on worms. More specifically the nutritional difference between WC worms, bait store nightcrawlers and worms you grow yourself and can control the diet of. I know most people say they are packed with vitamins and alot of minerals and fairly lean. I have at least seem some mentions of calcium content actually being high in some worms but I wonder if these are ones say specifically fed eggshells alot with their other diet or something. I would love to do it myself but I assume I need a mass spectrometer for anything but checking calorie count.

I remember a study on nutritional break down of night crawlers. I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks everyone! :) I'm eventually going to run out of basic husbandry to talk about, so I'm already planning other topics like gut-loading and nutrition content in feeders, other things like that.

If you find it, I'd love to read it.

This isn't the one I was searching for or remember but it's something to start with.

Okay cool. I'll search the forum for the other one too.
Not really related to garters at all, but I'm surprised that they couldn't get data for protein for pinhead crickets since they could get it for fruit flies and larvae.

While I agree that Steve is THE source for official garter studies here, I have never had a professor that would willingly send you links to everything :D If he were really a professor, he'd just say "Interesting question. You should go look it up."

Very, very thorough and well made :)
There aren't a whole lot of garter videos on Youtube, and even fewer that are as good as these.

Thanks Tommy. My search abilities have improved over the years with the help of a couple friends, Stefan on this forum and Steve Schmidt(a true search Master) I've also become more patient in the process. Being retired has allowed me the luxury of time. I do what I can, when I can, because I can. If any of you aren't familiar with "Google Scholar" I'd suggest you bookmark it as a search option. Thanks again Tommy for your kind words.
