1219712198121991220012201Hey everyone, I figured I would put this update in the husbandry section bc anytime you are faced with non feeding snakes you have to look at your husbandry first. I really don't think its a husbandry issue due to the two other granites are both taking food very well. The runt of the clutch is the picky one and although I know he is drinking water he hasn't taken any food as of yet like his clutchmates. He (I say he loosely bc I still am waiting to sex them all) is very active and fast moving with a lot of tongue flicking and super sharp eyesight. So, actually I am not worried about him. It just would be nice to see him take food when I offer it. From left to right and the first two pics are the larger scrub, next two pics are the runt, third pic is the pastel 100% het granite. :)

Hey guys, went to check the sexes on the two granites tonight and both are female. The pastel het I had checked yesterday and she also is female. I guess it will be good to check again when they get a bit more size to them. Keep you posted. Little runt took some cut up guppies tonight. Finally! Yay!:)

He's just het pastel, actually. I didn't know granite was a thing until later, or I'd likely have gotten one.
I love the little bugger, but he doesn't want jack all to do with me, haha.

Well, I got some guppies today from Petland for runty. And to my surprise she took a live whole male guppy. So I am glad that she seems on the road to regular feedings. Thanks for all the help and advice on things to try. I froze the remainder and will mix them in with pink parts and hope the scenting will work.

123471234812349Both granite pastel babies doing well, as is the pastel het granite. Runty in the middle pic is eating regularly and has chunked up a bit. Unfortunately they are all females and I have triple checked the sexes. They all like cut up pinky, cut up guppies, and occaisional cut up nightcrawler. Weigh in next week. :) Sorry for the upturned pic #1

Just add one of these to my ever-growing list of wants....Eventually I'll have my own space to get whatever I want. :P I just need to have my own room again, my family isn't too keen on the living room being 100% snakes. haha

These are beautiful snakes. If they were bred to an albino would the babies be het for both granite and albino?

Yes live, the offspring would be triple het I believe bc they already are double het being granite pastels. So, depending on what a individual baby produced from a granite pastel x albino pairing would be 3 genes. The visual presentation of any given scrub would clue you in to what they really are but then it would have to be proved out through breeding. I think they would all be 66% het for albino until it was proved out. Remember albino is recessive. :) And the albino gene you are referring to is albino checkered only right? Because that is the genotype.

can it be pastel and granite at the same time? if so they would be 100% het for all 3. if you think of a pastel granite like a snow which is the mixture of anery and albino so it is both but not sure how the pastel gene works

I don't think we know if these are more than het pastel under the granite? I haven't figured out how pastel interacts with granite yet. I know what pastel looks like otherwise--super and het--because I have a het pastel and have googled the hell out of it.
But what does pastel do with granite? It doesn't seem to yellow them like straight pastel (het or super)--does it cause the reduced neck pattern? Or are we sure it's even there at all?

This is only my opinion, I am not a expert on genetics by any means and I can certainly be wrong.

Thanks Tommy, I really don't know for sure.

I think Shawn referred to them as being either ganite pastels or super granites when the first clutch was introduced. And Jeff , I believe, was in agreement.
