I'm from South Carolina and surrounded by snakes. I'd like to learn more so I'm not so afraid of them. My neighbor just killed a pygmy rattlesnake. So far all I have is a Brown Water Snake living in my raised flower bed. I"ve had three or four on my porch but mostly Black Snakes and some I could not identify other than I don't think they were poisonous.

I'd advise you educate your neighbor on the benefits of snakes :) They do more good than harm, and won't mess with you unless you mess with them.
