Hi, I have an 8 year old garter snake and last week I noticed something new while watching him. The video will show you what I mean. Some basic information is I just brought him out of brumating last week and fed him two pinkies for the first time today, with no problems. However, when I watch him in the cage he'll do this shaking thing then stop, then start again. Sometimes he goes a long time with out doing it, ect. Hope the vid helps

Some of my garters do this when something is touching them, I don't think that's the case here though, no idea if it's anything to worry about or not i'm sure some other members will chime in soon.

I've seen others do that. The snake seems to be in control of it. Certainly something to watch but at this point I wouldn't panic. A longer look at the snake would have been great.

For sure, I'll try to get a longer video tomorrow. I'm only alarmed since this started only a week ago, (at least from what I could see)
Everything else is normal.

it's almost like introduction courting, lol. Do you have a female near or with him?

I've seen mine do this too. Never seems like anything is wrong; the ones that are in a tank together did it a lot when they were first introduced to each other.

Most likely, the male is aroused sexually and wants to breed. He, imo, is exhibiting courtship behavior and is excited. Possibly smells or senses a pheromone -like scent . Peace. I think this is normal garter snake behavior.
