Sure, many of us do. I recommend they they be of similar size.

If you do though, it's a good idea to separate them during feeding time. They tend to get a bit feisty and they could hurt each other.

My Wanderings are living as a trio in a 55 gallon tank. (12" x 48" base)

My Pickerings are living as a pair in a 40 Long tank. (also 12" x 48" base)

I solve the feeding dangers by either watching them eat with the lid off so I can intervene if someone gets grabbed during feeding excitement... OR... and I like this better ... I have taught them to take food from feeding forceps, so that each snake is HAND fed every item.

I think I should pass this along. I have read that wanders are the biggest threat of the garters to eat each other and should be housed seperately.

I have a pair together without problems... I don't think cannibalism is very common in wandering at all, just afew cases now and again...

I think it is usually a case of adults eating neonates, rather than straight cannibalism. Checkereds do it too.

Like the rest says, sure you can. I'd just like to say, the easiest is to house the same subspecies together. I keep couple's all year round together. Only if I fear cannibalism for the new-borns, than I seperate the male from the female. Feeding them seperate is best, and otherwise keep a close eye that the female doesn't eat the male by mistake.

You can also hous snakes of different subspecies together, but best of the same size and with the same gender (so you won't get the possibility of hybrids or intergrades). I also know quite some people who do that and it works for them. I personally don't do that. I've also heard the stories of wandering garters being cannibalistic, don't know if it's true or not.

I wonder . . .
I'm housing one-year-old two males together - a parietalis and a radix
they've been same size, but the radix just had a major growth spurt
I'm starting to think that perhaps I should separate them
