Hi I'm from ohio I am relatively new to the snake world as parents refused to let me have one even though it's the only pet I've ever wanted. I just purchased my 1st pair of garters easter. Flame high red and high orange. I'm not positive of their locality though and want to make sure it's legal to own them here in ohio

Nice to have you with us. I have an email in to the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources. Trying to get info. on possession laws with regards to Thamnophis. Here are the native garters of Ohio. Eastern Garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis), Plains garter snake (Thamnophis radix ), Butler’s garter snake (Thamnophis butleri), Shorthead garter snake (Thamnophis brachystoma), Eastern ribbon snake (Thamnophis sauritus sauritus), northern ribbon snake.
As soon as I get an answer I post it up.

Thanks I will be putting them into brumation after thanksgiving to make some babies next year I can't wait to see the albino flame babies they will be gorgeous I actually get the parents tomorrow but they are paid for so I posted as owned I was told they are Canadian so I thought it was OK lol ill keep them still though. Will post pics tomorrow

Well looking forward to tomorrow will post pics I might get a 3rd in with them if he was able to comfortably fit them in together looking forward to it. Thanks for the info I'm new to garters but I do own other snakes and garters will be the first snakes I breed ^.^ they are just so cute as my mom says when she comes over (she used to hate snakes)

I know I'm keeping a albino male or 2 back when I get them looking for an sub adult female albino easterns about 1.5 years old to put with them then I'll get straight albino flames they are lovely snakes when the male hold backs get old enoigh

But the ones I really want to breed are neon blue phase infernalis god they are gorgeous snakes I also got a free ery female flame but I'm not sure if she can breed she is beautiful but has a kink right above her cloaca I'll add a pic in a second

It's hard to make out but is the bump right on the spine/tail and is it hard to the touch?

I think it is but I'm not positive she is sleeping right now but it feels like any other part of her I think I try not to touch there in case it would make her uncomfortable

"As well" ? Is it hard to the touch and does she appear to have trouble flexing/moving(side to side) at that location? Do her movements appear natural/fluid?

Her movements look natural and fluid yes and it's only 1 I was just trying to add to the post before sorry for the confusion and the lump is hard yes it doesn't seem to affect movement at all she was like that when I got her she was free with my other 2 she is almost 4 feet long
