I've posted here before with pictures of my adult garter snake and just from pictures everyone was able to determine it was a gravid female, so I've decided to keep up to 3 babies... But I'm not good at sexing them. Here's a picture of 3 of them, can you guess the sexes? The tails look tapered to me but I've never really seen a male that I knew was a male before so I'm having trouble11129

The photo needs to be closer up and of the underside of their tails. Sexing them is more difficult for smaller snakes, and some species are more tricky than others, but it is often possible with suitable photos.

Alright, I hope these are better pictures, I tried taking 2 of each just in case.

First 2 are Copperfield, next 2 is Pen

Thanks for posting those. My guess would be female on both but the photos make it difficult. Here's a link to a thread that will show you some photos. This thread can also teach you how to sex your snakes. Sexing young snakes can be difficult. http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/breeding/5069-sexing-pics.html

The light coming in those windows is causing some of the problems. Any chance you can get some photos from the underside of a piece of glass?

I was thinking definitely female on the first pair (Copperfield) of photos and female on the second pair (Penn) and male on the third (Teller).
